I can hardly get out of bed and go to college knowing what the future holds for me currently.

I’m only on my first year of college still, yet i owe 5,000+ USD so far. I’m a poor college kid, my family doesn’t have a lot of money either. We’re not poor enough to get a ton of financial aid, but we can’t pay for what isn’t covered so i have to take out loans. If I owe the same amount every year i’ll be 22,000 USD in debt at age 22. We don’t own a house we rent, my step dad has an okay job, and my mom works at a friends bar during the day shift making below minimum wage and hardly tips because no one goes to the bar during the day. My step dad busts his ass working 12 hour night shifts, but we’re still barely floating. What am i even going to college for? I haven’t picked a major yet because i’m still trying…

Sunday chills on Saturday Night

Hey antiwork. I (23M) am getting tired of doing the grind. I don't have it a fifth as bad as some of the other posts I've read. Salaried IT professional, 45-55 hours a week(no OT pay of course), pretty good salary, but a very small team of 3. Boss won't give me any remote work flexibility even though I can do my job 97% remotely with exceptions of hardware maintenance (of which I create a maintenance window on my own time afterhours). I've even suggested hybrid work but heavily in-office and its still a hard no. When the pandemic happened, I took on the hardship of working a full-time job, full-time university (US btw), and preparing to get married all in the same year. I thought once I got my degree and got married, a big weight would be lifted off my shoulders. Things just got more complicated with my…

Manager wants to retain me and offer perks.

I am leaving my current role in an operating room. The old supervisor retired in August and they have not posted their position until recently. Coincidentally they posted it when I told them I was leaving to go to another department within the hospital. The pay isn't what the old manager was making. It is 92 cents less. HR bumped up the pay to where it is now and won't budge. The manager said if I would like any perks to retain me I could let her know. Any idea what those perks should be? The position is fairly autonomous with oversight over 8 to 10 individuals. Any insight on how to go about this would be appreciated, thanks!

Best way to ask for a Raise

I started working at this job that currently pays $45,000 about 6 months ago. The company is great, work environment is very nice and management is awesome. However, I feel that I am being payed much less than I should, especially now that I have some experience. I accepted the salary because it is my first “real” full time job with excellent benefits and I needed actual experience. But now I feel that it’s an underwhelming paycheck. I live in DC and work as an executive assistant. However, I have been consistently doing far more beyond my original job duties. Executive assistant average in this area should be around 55k-65k. Mind you, I have a SAFe agile cert, AWS cloud cert, I am getting a PMP soon, and I am a current MBA student. I feel my value is far more than 45k… what do you think? and how would…

This sub is the internet at its best and the sign of a new age

And is long overdue. The long-held practice of the people on top of the company getting 95% of the money and perks and having the hundreds of people under them fight each other for the scraps and to see who will do the most for the least, that is ending. Part of what allowed that to go on for so long was the pro-capitalist and individualistic mentality we've been raised with of “that could be me someday” is also going away. People want fairness and a good life for everyone. Less work, less stress, more living. People realizing you don't need to be rich to have a good life, you just need less work, less stress, and a BIT more money. The days of kings and peasants are coming to an end. If everyone adopts this mentality, including the guy they hire after firing you, then they will be forced…
