My apartment recently flooded. The complex was in the middle of shotty roof work, and we had heavy rain. The roofers tarped off the roof for the entire complex, and the tarp blew up above my unit. All the water funneled into our unit, collapsing the ceiling in the living room. Asbestos and all. My high end renters insurance fought tooth and nail not to cover anything. After three emotional weeks they finally caved and cut us a check. Given that there is asbestos and serious renovations will need to be done, we got a three day notice to vacate. Thankfully, we had been looking for spots while we were in Limbo. Side note, I think we found our next home, which is a blessing.
