When’s a good time to give notice?
So keep in mind that I'm Canadian and my contract very clearly states that I have to give 2 weeks. I accepted a job that pays significantly more in a specialized area that I've been trying to break into for a while. I've had to do a background check which is standard, but this background check is much more in depth than anything I've ever done before. They need to confirm school and employment history. My only problem is that my boss for one of previous jobs quite clearly told me he'll destroy my life for quitting on him. Normally, I wouldn't give a damn but now I'm worried as hell that he'll try to torpedo this new job if the background check people call him. I was the only employee working for him since it's a very small business. The only proof I have of working there are texts…
So I've recently started (1m) a remote position for a company that works in Market research. Boiling it down I'm cold-caller whose conducting surveys on behalf of various clients and I have to interview the general public. So already I want to shove a large spike in my eye. (Taking this job was more necessity than want. Used to do something else got injured now I have to suck that money dick) As part of my 3 month… that's right 3 month probation I have to meet a certain requirement of contribution before I'm offered a role. Until then I'm on a zero hour contact where I won't be given the job until my contribution percentage is 33%, which translates to I've got to make this company 3 times my wage over 3 months just to keep my job. These people have to gall to pay thier workers £4.62 per…
Working 2 Jobs?!?
So I’ve been in the market to buy a house for the past year or so, but can’t afford anything where I live….mobile homes are going for almost 300k, and a 1 bed 1 bath home around 1000sqft are easily getting close to 350-400k and there’s bidding wars. I make 26 hr, have virtually no debt and yet I can’t afford anything. I don’t want to work 2 jobs because I love my main job luckily. I’m afraid to be burnt out from working 2 jobs just to afford a modest living. Anyone else having these issues where they live even with a decent job?
I am looking at interviewing with other companies for the role I am currently in. I work in projects for a large financial company and I have worked in this role for 3 years, total 7 years with the company. Having looked at advertised roles for my job, I can see that I am grossly underpaid, so I’m looking to leave (this is not a leveraging technique) and a motivator is a better salary. A lot of the job adverts say “up to £xxxxx.xx” – how do I fairly and respectful set a wage valuation in any interviews?
Use to work automotive repair and maintenance for 10 years. I have psoriasis(itches like crazy and not contagious) . yes i would scratch and flakes would fall. Assistant manager told me to get a doctors note with diagnosis and treatment within 30 days or i would be fired. I asked for it in writing. Never got back to me with it. He got fired for theft. I got fired for insubordination which bit them in the ass in the way of another class action lawsuit and unemployment
job interview for a needy company
Job interviewer : what kind of salary are you looking for? Me: the one you posted on your job listing Job interviewer : that's fair. Me (in my head) : YOURE FUCKING GOD DAMN RIGHT IT IS!!
I started this job very recently and I do enjoy the actual job so far but there’s been stuff that has been happening that has been so stressful to me and giving all this anxiety. I posted about this on here before but I have been getting text messages from my boss and a shift leader and it’s been so stressful to me, getting all these messages when I’m not working. Recently the boss texted the group chat (which I never wanted to be in in the first place) that he was recommending a certain date for a mandatory paid work meeting. I never respond to those group chat messages but he said if anyone can’t make it to let him know, otherwise he’s gonna schedule the meeting for that day. I responded saying that it was my day off and I can’t make it. And I also have something…
How do you guys approach that lol. I lowkey kinda had that happen today with an interview and honestly I really had nothing to say to that other than my past jobs were really shitty jobs and didn’t pay enough 🤷️ Every job I hopped from I got paid more and essentially a better work/life balance. I probably could’ve defended myself but what the job was offering wasn’t what I was wanting so I decided to rescind myself from the interview and ultimately give up trying hard for it lol. I’m not too beat up about it cause the job I’m at right now is ok I’m just a little bummed out cause that healthcare company cares for their employees more especially within my field, and at this company I can tell they don’t care for us as much, as a result making the job a bit more harder than…
How do I advocate for myself?
Hi Antiwork peeps. I'm in the process of moving from East to West coast and I've been offered an AMAZING job. Paid time off, sick time, vacation time, health and dental benefits; essentially the package I've been waiting for to finally help me move over. But there's one problem… The pay caps out at 18/hr. In my last job, I was paid 23/hr and as nice as that may sound, I still struggled a lot with making ends meet (I lived in one of the most expensive states in the east coast). With a car payment, phone bill, student loan payments, etc. I just couldn't manage it all. I want to ask for at least 23/hr again since I know how to get by with that. Also, the position I'll be hired for is actually for two positions combined into one. I feel like I have the right to ask…
