While navigating our lovely broken American economy, I found myself on a good week with a few hundred dollars in the account and decided it would be best spent on a well-overdue vet visit for my two pups yearly shots (or close to it as you can get to yearly, wallet permitting). I thought I would have enough money for both dogs, but after receiving the bill for the first dog, I had to postpone the second dog's appointment. The bill was $450 for yearly vaccines, a heartworm injection, and a 15 day supply of apoquel (which I did the math on, comes out to $2 a day, which is so frustrating because it actually works well). Basically, I am an accounting student, final year. I got hired by a small company to basically be a secretary/ basic tax preparer. My initial job description is that I work on preparing t4s and t4s then switch over to Preparing income taxes for individuals in march and April while doing basic secretary duties like scanning documents and making calls. Suddenly, I am left basically by my self in Feb to march to prepare everything my self. Furthermore, I am now supposed to learn to do other tax stuff since the senior in the company took a 2 months vacation. I have to pick up the slack to do his stuff. I have to now prepare financial statements, file sales taxes, prepare corporate returns, hunt down client to get engagement letters signed., and handle enquiries by cra and our 400+ clients. All while doing my regular duties of preparing income…

I just felt like sharing that there is still great people out there giving great jobs. I got a job has a construction worker through a friend of mine and now I'm in Germany with all expenses paid working 9 hours to earn enough to live comfortably in my own country. Is my first job and I feel blessed to be something like this, pays well, I learn a lot and I'm in Germany!

But never told me what I “wasn't doing enough” of, and it turned out to be that i “wasn't doing enough” for my other boss. I work 6-7 days a week, and do everything that they tell me to do. I'm an intern at a college and working way more hours than they specified for the intern job total bs.

I can’t really share this publicly yet so I figured I’d post here. I just accepted a verbal job offer that will almost double my current salary. The position is in tech with a company that seems like the real deal. My current role is tech support for a big name, but buried in layers of subcontracting. The software I currently support is pervasive and complex but really doesn’t inspire me at the end of the day. The position is also ass. I’m a contractor, and my contracting company offers shit wages, shit benefits, and I get no PTO. The company I’m contracted to has also completely changed my role 4 times, moving me to more complex teams and giving me more responsibilities, but the wages and benefits have stayed the same. i'm just going off cause im very angry rn as someone who's looking for jobs and already is tired of the continuous asking of me to make an entire account for each individual company i apply to, for whatever fucking reason. but the most annoying thing will always be finally finishing retyping all of the shit that's literally on your resume, just to be met with that dreadful follow up email. “thank you for taking your time to apply, now the next step is to do a 30 minute personality test so we can figure out how depressed you really are and if you will sacrifice your sanity and physical health for this 15/hr job.” it's fucking ludicrous. i just had a job (it was a big bank company) tell me i needed to download a gaming app to finish the “next step” of my application. i was reading the…
