They don’t care about you at all.
I’m not boycotting if you aren’t
There are far too many comments or posts about boycotting this or that. If your workplace treats you and your fellow employees like shit then I shouldn't be able to buy their products in the first place. I will strike with you and support you, but if y'all just allow the abuse to continue then that's on you. You can't ask me to boycott while you continue making the product. You will never get what you want that way. You have the power to shut everything down and get what you deserve. Rise up.
I work for a fast fashion company in Canada. A week ago there was a roof renovation. There was toxic roof tar fumes circulating in the office. Many people complained about their lungs hurting, getting skin rashes, headaches, wanting to vomit, etc. Many people coughing. Upper management is doing fine as they are in secluded areas with closed doors. There are many at risk and elderly people working in the company. Management has not sent any emails about the situation, yet the same management has previously sent mass emails about random stuff, such as a copy pasted and sad “Happy International Women's Day” to the majority of underpaid women working there. After several complaints, HR said we could go home if we want, but no one left. No team leaders left so anyone lower felt too bad about leaving. This company has the tendency to fire people on a whim…
A sonic in commerce city, CO
So my cat’s vet’s office recently started playing an automated message before their ringtone saying something like “please be patient with us. Due to the shortages in the veterinary field you may be experiencing longer than usual hold times”. Now I’m not trying to immediately call bullshit, but it smells to me like they could hire another secretary but they’re too cheap. I used to be a scheduler for people doctor’s offices only a couple years ago and they didn’t require any specialized program. I got trained in how each particular office worked, whatever HIPAA training certificate they want, etc. Not hard stuff. I’m tempted to go in to little guy’s follow up appointment and ask if they’re hiring, and inquire about pay, benefits and such. I’m not trying to annoy the owner/manager or whoever it is if there truly is some kind of specialized technician shortage that I don’t…
