So my boss quit (who I actually liked) and their boss quit (who I kinda liked because they were somewhat reasonable on a lot of things) and the higher ups in the company swooped in and placed a new temporary manager in charge to keep things running. It's been pretty rocky to say the least. They are barely keeping things afloat at this location. Last time I worked, this manager decided to make things incredibly difficult for me to do my job efficiently and I decided to comply with it knowing I'm walking out the door soon. I literally spent 20 minutes telling him about why I've been doing this shit a certain way for years and how terribly disorganized the store will be if I do what he's asking. Can't remember the last time I felt so disappointed and gut-punched. I've been at the same job for five years now, and was recently part of a major reorganization, going from brand-level product support to a more centralized team supporting multiple brands. I've played my cards right through the entire process… Have been nothing but professional, enthusiastic, and presenting myself as enthusiastic regarding the new role. For the past couple of months, the higher-ups have been putting things in order, and I've had a few follow up meetings. Everything seemed so optimistic until today… Not only did the person who would be my direct colleague put in his two weeks notice, I was directly told that due to there only being one “headcount” in place (me) that we would need to get creative with our resources. today would have been my dads 54th birthday. he passed away 8 years ago after spending 13 months in a coma due to an accident on site. barely a day goes by that I don't think of him. The worst part, the pattern of kind gestures the company made while court proceedings went on. fooling me completely. paying for the funeral, the CEO of this ASX listed company even spoke at the funeral. 6 months later he didn't recognise me when I bumped into him. ( I had worked at this company for the last 3 years). as soon as the court hearing was over they changed their attitudes and I was forced to quit not long after. long story short , fuck the man. do what makes you happy.

Suddenly we now work overnights. I am not functioning well on this schedule, my sleep is messed up, my mood is whack, my body doesn't know when to eat. The duties of job changed and I'm not trained in this kind of new work. Turns out it's legal to just change employees hours and duties. I make pretty good $$ but I can't have my labor and my time and sanity exploited like this. I got a new job, more money, stable duties, great benefits. I'm dropping my resignation letter the moment I come back from vacation.

I worked 10-12 hour days last year training a new team as the company I worked for “restructured” and moved my team to another country. At year end, I felt I deserved my entire bonus, my supervisor felt I deserved less. When I pointed out departmental goals we achieved in addition to goals I personally achieved, I was told that it was done and we’re moving forward. So I asked our legal department to see if I could get out of my non-compete agreement. This led to me being let go as they figured if I wanted out, I could just go and they’d move my job out of the country and save more money. Come to find out, my supervisor was suing the company for not giving them the amount of money they felt entitled to after a deal had closed. I find it ironic that my supervisor walked…

He was working for an unemployment office in Ohio while in his 20s. He processed unemployment claims. He made $50 a week doing that. While processing claims, he realized unemployment paid $45 a week. He intentionally started making tons of mistakes and was let go. He walked in the next week and started collecting unemployment. Said he’d rather get $45 a week for doing nothing than $50 a week for 40 hours work. (In those several weeks, he wrote his earliest comedy routines.)
