My girlfriend has been waiting for her raise for months, now.

My girlfriend works as a pharmacy technician at a major American pharmacy chain, CVS. She started at $14 an hour, and was told she would get a raise to $16 once she completed her training. She has been working there for over a year, now, and finished up her all of her training months ago. Her manager keeps telling her that she will give her the raise, but has not yet gotten around to it. My girlfriend has talked to her manager many times since she finished her training, her manager always says she will do it soon but still has not given her the raise. This has been going on for months. My girlfriend is containing to make $14 an hour, while other employees at the store that started around the same time she did have already gotten their promised raise plus another for being there as long as…

I turned my out of office on for the first time ever.

Learning feels good. I keep seeing posts about “don't answer your phone when you're not on the clock.” It took reading several of them before it sank in for me. This week my whole team had basically called out sick, we work from home, and it's honestly just too easy to walk across the living room and go to work to cover when someone calls out. Side note: My team is really awesome at giving out mental health days, bereavement time, sick time, I make zero complaints about that. My boss has even scheduled zoom meeting with each of us individually just to check in with us and make sure we are all doing ok. I recently lost 2 family members, and my metrics slid, he called me to make sure I was doing ok, and said my numbers will take care of themselves. I have a really great job.…

unbelievable fucking believable

Been reading this sub for a while now and i find it un fucking believable. Firstly i am from Australia and not bragging or rubbing it in but our workforce here have 4 weeks annual leave and 10 paid sick days per year plus public holidays. I am a 50 yr old man raising 2 children on my own, both under 15 and even my Goverment pay me extra as my wage is not enough to raise 2 children. I earn over 70k annually from work alone. Your country ever since i was a child was known as the lucky country. A place portrayed on tv where all families have big cars and bigger houses. And even today a patriotic American will claim the best country in the world, the richest country in the world. What about the people? You are treated like dogs by your bosses, refused to leave…

This is how I contribute to the antiwork cause as a retail worker and how you could too!

Inspired by the first Petsmart store unionizing and by all the recent posts about inflation/people struggling to get by, I want to share how I contribute to the cause. I work part time at a Petsmart to help me stay afloat during university. Everyday I work, I see people struggling to provide the best lives for their pets. Once a really old man came in and wanted to ring up some prescription cat food. He asked if he could use this app called “Afterpay,” because he couldn't afford the entire cost of the food and needed to pay in installments. I was new to the job and had no idea how to work the app, so I tried helping him, but I had to ask management. It was a busy day and he was causing the the line to build up pretty heavily. The manger didn't know how to help…

Working for a company vs owning a company

Hello, I use reddit but not a lot, this is my first post. I'm in my early 30s. My first few jobs I made $7.50 to $10 an hr. I eventually got a good factory job and I made it up to $17.50 at 20 years old. Then I joined the Army. I've had other jobs in between like driving trucks, got jobs, ect. I own a business now in the realstate sector and I make around 76k to 103k per year and I really enjoy what I do and I'm making more as I expand. I'm curious? Why do so many people just complain about work instead of working towards what they actually want to do? Many people lack intelligence, wit, strength, confidence and or are just down right lazy. I agree many jobs are terrible, but I never stayed at a job I hated for long. Good leadership…
