I am studying business administration and will in the end have a worthless degree anyway because in my country every one studies it and i have average grades, will take 4 Semesters longer than im supposed to and will be in my end 20s. I wanted to start Youtube but i have the feeling it is way harder to do it in college because you cannot concentrate. You have your studies always at the back of your head which ends me end up doing neither. I wish i can finally start working BUT i really dont like anything in business administration. I would rather want to do something like Uber /Taxi driving, Youtube or something creative. Anyone here a Uber / Taxi driver who can comment on it?
When i work full time i i never have the time or energy to play Video games or watch TV-shows. Especially because i still go to the gym and keep myself fit. Than if you add proper sleep, cooking and keeping yourself up with current affairs, watch 2-3 youtube videos the day is over. So i wonder how people manage to enjoy all those Video games, movies, TV Shows and so on
I haven't started working yet, I'm a college student. I am struggling right now and find it hard to accept the grim reality that we live in. I find it hard to go to classes everyday. I am depressed, I'm trying hard to gaslight myself into getting this degree and gaining financial independence. I'm naive and don't know much about the world, but I can't help wonder if it is really impossible to live in a more fair world?
“Your Tips ARE Your Raise”
This is exactly what was said to my now former (I wonder why??) Co-worker when he asked our owner about raises. The only problem is, is that it doesn't matter how good your attitude is, how many add-ons you're able to sell, or how efficiently you're able to work, some people will NEVER tip. Even on some of our busiest days where I give my best, friendliest, customer service, there will be little to no tips. It's a slap in the face that both of my store managers can drive high end cars but yet I have had to go at least a week at a time with nothing to eat, because I have to rely on the kindness of tips. Oh, none of us are allowed to work any overtime whatsoever to compensate, but the managers can work as many overtime hours as they want. Even though we carry…
Pay cut and benefits taken away
I’ve officially had it. I was an EA for the past 8 months busting my butt to keep my team in order, taking on more than I should to keep everyone happy. Huge mistake, because when you’re not good at one thing, people will only remember the times you let them down. HR handed me a termination notice a month ago. She cited that I wasn’t a good fit for the role. She gave me an offer letter for a different role that comes with a massive pay cut, NO benefits, and NO equity whatsoever. Why would you even offer that to me? Well, we just don’t have the money :/ Oh? Bc of all the BS that the execs spend money on? I was the EA, I see the execs making stupid decisions left and right. You guys make well-over six figures can’t offer me basic healthcare and a…
Walmart shit hours
My hours just got changed AGAIN. when I was promoted to team lead hours were 7am-4pm and 1-10pm. You'd close once or twice a week usually and open the rest. Closing started getting pushed back 30 minutes at a time, now it's 2:30-11pm. But yesterday they just dropped the bomb on my department that our leads (just my team) now work 5am-2pm AND 2:30-11:30. I'm expected to open that shift and turn right around and close the next day and vice versa. I asked my boss if this was a mistake and he said no it's our new rotation. I'm livid these hours are dog shit and he knows it. I'm gonna try to talk to him tomorrow without blowing up but I refuse to work this. I'm putting in for an lead opening that has a set schedule and if I don't get it I'm stepping down and going…
Pretty sure this belongs here. Recently my husband and I moved to the city because I promoted in my job of 2 years and got a big pay bump and transferred locations (not just bc of the promotion also external reasons) Something I have not understood for a long time is that he will put in his applications and it still takes him 1-4 months to get a job. Its seriously not for the lack of trying. He puts his applications in pretty much everywhere! And calls to follow up. We have been together 4ish years and married for one, so I changed names after I already had a job. Its 2 am. Im thinking about how we have lived here a month and he is still struggling to find a job. And it just occoured to me, dont know why it didnt before: its most probably because he has…
I live and work in Virginia. I work for a moving company and I do local jobs as well as interstate. Drivers have an hourly rate of $19 but for interstate jobs, they pay us a commission of 10% of the customer’s total bill, which usually ends up being more than the hourly rate. The problem is- we rack up hours quickly on interstate moves. For example, I could do a local job for 13 hours, and then an interstate job for 27 hours, and then finish off the job with another couple local jobs for 6 hours each. This would be a total of 52 hours in one week, but since interstates are paid by commission, only the 25 hours from local jobs would show up on my check and I wouldn’t receive any overtime. To me, this seems illegal because even though they are paying commission for the…
