I'm a school bus driver right now. The entire country is hurting for drivers and everyone knows it and YET: Going through the Indeed posts wanting school bus drivers is dealing with most narcissistic/demanding management in any industry Most of the posts are these crazy long lists of demands with zero information about what drivers get in return. Yes, the wage is FINALLY getting mentioned much more often than it used to be, but they never list the hours, benefits, PTO or holiday pay info. They are almost entirely Nazi like “You Vill Do As You Are Told, peasant!” Anyone who applies is basically saying “yes, it's ok to treat me likea little bitch before you even meet me” And the schools stand around with their thumbs up their butts whining “why can't we get any drivers…?” Is dumb af. Why can't they catch up with the times and post…
Somebody come get your Taco Bell regional manager. She is screaming at everyone on Zoom calls in the Kansas City airport about 27 taco bells closing an hour early last night because of bad weather. And she is fucking pissed! God forbid the employees are safe and go home for bad weather at 11pm instead of midnight, she is fuckin pissed. She just said, “Im in this to fuckin make money! NEXT SLIDE!” What a bitch!
Hardspace: Shipbreaker, and the Union
I want to share this here, since I think it touches a pretty significant overlap between the Antiwork and gaming communities. I just finished Hardspace: Shipbreaker. From a gameplay perspective, it's an incredibly satisfying game. You tear a spaceship apart and sort the salvage into different places. Now, I have no idea how a game about sorting salvage feels it has ANY right to have a story this good, but it's fantastic. So you start a job as a Shipbreaker for the Lynx Corporation. The game starts with you reading your employment contract. You're put into staggering debt because Lynx “helps you out” by shouldering the immense cost of your training and equipment, allowing you to work to pay it back. The company literally owns its employees. As the game progresses, other Shipbreakers on your team start to talk about doing something about it. The climax is incredible. The point…
I am going to Hawaii in April
It is a week long family trip, my mom asked me to join, they already bought the tickets booked the flight etc. I requested PTO (at first through my FMLA—which was rejected due to not being medically excused, then next resubmitted as Annual Leave or PTO) My boss let’s me know that I don’t currently have enough time to use for the days off I am requesting, nor will I have enough by that time… So, what option does that leave me with…? I am just supposed to not go on my family vacation because work says so? This is coming from the same boss who asked if there was an alternate route for me to take to work after I told them that roads were closed because the police issued a shelter in place due to a gunman threat a block away from my house. I will most likely…
Hi. Ok so my internship was remote. For a few random days, we were required to work in our local office. My problem was that it was very difficult. Transportation would cost hundreds of dollars in Uber and hours to go to the office and home. Also, $10 for lunch. The cost was too high just to work in the office and interact better with other employees. Maybe I would have gone if the company paid for everything but it was still taking up so much of my mine. Do you think not going to those company events stopped me from getting a return offer? I still did all my work.
Lost kitten and job in same day
I'll try to keep this brief. My best friend was forced to quit her job yesterday and later that day also lost her kitten to FIP. Her dad got in a car accident last week, head on Collison and broke his knee. He had to get surgery, and long story short she had to go and take care of him (they have no other family). She told her boss she had to go take care of him and he threw a fit. So she was gone for 3 work days and the day she was supposed to come back her boss made her stay home and do a Google meets with him where he proceeded to yell at her, swear at her and complain that he's never had an employee before who's had so many “life issues”. He was mad she didn't ask permission to go take care of her…
How is this legal? My entire shift I have to have my camera on from chest up and wear office attire. In my home. My supervisor literally sits in a teams meeting with me all day basically watching me in her office and one other remote person. It was not always like this. People within a certain distance of the office were required to return. The company said this new policy is for a “virtual office environment” but it’s basically surveillance. It’s weird and feels violating Does anyone else have to deal with this? It’s making me consider finding a new job, but i just got a good raise
