Hey people. For those sick of bad employers and shitty pay there is a way out. There is a national shortage of EMT's. EMT's typically earn $30+ an hour. It only takes 3 months to get certified and costs on average $1500 for the certification. There are even scholarships offered. EMTs are trained to provide basic emergency care to patients outside hospitals and ensure their transportation to a hospital or healthcare facility. Help your community and become an EMT!
Let go a couple weeks ago
I was one person working a job that should have at least been 3 or 4. I was supposed to be in charge of that department but my direct manager allowed 3 people with zero knowledge of my system over run my area and refuse to follow my plan, which was in writing, posted and emailed. They undid 3 years of work. I got in trouble for what the other people did. I was effectively prevented from doing my job due to their actions. Then I got in trouble. It's so stupid it's funny. On to the next one I guess. At least they called it a lay off lol.
So I had a really hard time in my life I had started a business with a friend of mine and worked my ass off over 2 years. I was killing myself doing 16 hour days while he was running it like an unsuccessful ponzu scheme. I ended up walking away with nothing and am still trying to get repaid for debts in my name. Moving on I got a job as a driver needed something without stress to detox from my small business implosion. I have been working there for about 4 months and I feel like I have doing pretty good. The pay isn’t great it’s 40k salary paid every 2 weeks but week 1 I work about 35-40 hours and week 2 is more like 45. I figured I would ask for a raise in a month or 2. Well on Friday another driver/owner lost it at…
My Dad’s advice
My dad constantly gives me advice about working, and there's something he keeps telling me that doesn't sit right with me. He tells me about the time he worked at a car dealership as a janitor or whatever they called it back then. He says that he would do more work than he was asked to while the other janitors would do only what they were told to do, and to reward him his boss gave him a raise (my dad doesn't remember how much) and took him to dinner with his family once. I don't know how to tell him this would never in a million years happen with 99% of companies today. “You do more work than you were asked to? Congratulations, here's your minimum wage, get back to work peasant.” Pretty sure this was in the 1980s btw
Came across this visiting Ellis Island. I don't see a difference in the world today from what this is explaining in 1910.
Smartest thing you’ll hear all day….
The word is hegemony
Wendys drug test?
Does Wendys drug test? I just started at Wendy’s and a lot of the employees including the manager asked if I smoke weed. I even saw a bong on the managers desk and they asked if they can take a video of me taking a rip in full uniform. I wonder if I should. I am a stoner but I wonder why everyone smokes weed all the time.
So my workplace doesn't have anybody to clean anywhere, it's just expected that we, the employees, keep up and maintain the stores cleanliness. BtW we work in a pharmacy. Usually by 12 I'm burnt out and tired. People leave their dishes in the sink for weeks. Nobody cleans up after themselves. We have one girl who cleans the bathrooms on weekends. Idk it's just weird to me, I've never worked somewhere like this.
Hey there, I work fastfood in Ontario, and we're getting three paychecks for the month of June and I want to get myself more savings to put away by working overtime. I know a lot of places don't like to give overtime and I heard that some places even get their employees to sign a paper saying that they give up their time and a half for ot. Even if they do sign, would they still be entitled to it if it was illegal for the employer to waive it?
