So I'm on a contract for a company doing a skilled thing for them. (Trying to be super general just in case lol). What I'm getting paid is too low for the skill I am performing for them, which is something I've been refining for more than half my life. They're super happy with the work I'm doing so far, it seems. I think I just still have a hangover from years of school conditioning. I work super slowly. I WFH and take lots and lots of breaks to look at Reddit, etc. I'm meeting all the deadlines but also taking way longer to do things than I would if I actually just sat down and did them. I still meet all my deadlines, but it's also the type of workplace where I have a lot of say in how much gets put on my plate, and I'm definitely dragging…
Amazon MET
So I started working at Amazon late September, usually working 1:20am to 11:50 am, Saturday to Tuesday. But since today (11-24-22) I’m now working 12:20am to 11:50am, same days with one extra in December. This is quite brutal, no? Just you wait… no extra pay? Having to work 12 hours a day for 4 days in a row is draining and demotivating. Was wondering how others felt or if I’m being a cry baby.
Hello all, I (19M) was just called by my boss(46F) to work 60 hours, no overpay, or be fired on the spot. Any tips fellow redditors? I need help.
Food Security
The corporate tyrants continue to exploit us with no end in sight. Who's interested in creating community oriented food security via small backyard farms and community gardens? I'm a natural farmer and I know how to set up all these gardens with minimal costs and using local materials. Even the fertilizer inputs can easily be made with local materials very inexpensively The idea is for a group of say 20 households to join together and produce as much food as possible to share with each other. (20 is just a random number, it can be any number of households) So each household focuses on 1 or 2 items. Heres an example of what it could look like. The cost of setting up the gardens is shared and divided equally. *For people that live in apartments or don't have garden space, they could possibly group together and find a local land…
Need Time Off
I have been at my job for over 21 years. I work for a non-profit that always has a need for extra money for building repairs etc. I have always been an employee who goes above and beyond and love the people in my office. I deal with families that have burned me out. I see a lot of child abuse and neglect, go into filthy homes, work with drug addicts….my job is to help the parents get their lives together so they don’t lose their kids to foster care. My son is also having some mental health problems and has been in and out of psych units the last year. That and the stress of my job have made me have several break downs at my at my office. I have been told by my boss I need to take time off and get myself some rest and counseling.…
Forced to work night shift?
My friend and I had plans to drive up to my apartment today from her hometown to go black friday shopping at the big mall by my apartment. She worked from 2-11pm today and we were going to leave right at 11. However, the night time aid at the old folks home she works at called off and her boss is telling her she now has to work a second shift from midnight to 6am. Is it illegal to force her to stay to work the overnight shift without giving a prior notice that she would have to do this?
No one has requested the laptop. Considering the company size I’m assuming no one will know unless inventory is done. Can I swap the hard drive and use it for personal stuff? Would ofc keep the old one in case return is requested.
