I'm a scientific technician 2 for the state fish and wildlife department. I was offered a position on the other side of the state that I accepted on the 4th of January. I signed a new lease and broke my old lease. I had everything pretty much moved out, had signed an f9, w4, changed my mailing address, and then – with only 4 days left of my lease – I received an email from the employer that read as follows: Due to things changing in a different direction with the job we will no longer be hiring you for this position. I would personally like to thank you for your time and wish you luck in your job search. Thank you When I texted him for more information he told me “it [was] an upper management decision” and “there's nothing I can do, im sorry”. I've been having trouble…
There's an older guy with cancer; still working. An older woman who's pretty big and she just kinda shuffles around, constantly out of breath and groaning in pain. A very elderly cashier who's up here everyday at 5am. She looks like a skeleton. And just several more old/sickly people who just can't stop working because they have no money. It's inhumane. Wtf are we doing?
Went of on my moron boss this morning
The rest of the managers all had my back when I told them about it we all hate him.
I was hired in a salaried position at a tech company. The conversations I had upon being hired were that I was not expected to come into the office. It was made very clear that I lived a more than 2.5 hour drive away from and that being in the office day to day was not a possibility. Over the past few months there has been a push to get employees back in the office “post covid” which hasn't applied to me as I was remote. Today however my manager has a meeting with me informing me that I would need to be in the office 3 days a week beginning next month. I don't have a car and even if I did a 6-hour commute is out of the question. What are my options? Do I have any? All I said during the conversation was “Okay” and reiterated how…
antiwork representation
I'm still in some thought over how antiwork had the chance to speak out in an interview and we just had a neckbeard clown sink the message.
So to start things off, I'll give you some background info: I work for a small business in California. My Boss and his wife have severe trust issues (which my boss has complained to me about). His wife installed cameras in our workplace to monitor him. The cameras are Amazon “Blink” brand, and I know that they are not constantly recording. They have to manually start the recording from their phone app. The cameras have audio going that they can here when “live viewing” the cameras. There have been multiple instances of a coworker and I having a “private” conversation and they come in later and basically tell us they heard our conversation. We have moved into a new building recently, and I just came back from the weekend and noticed there are 2 cameras pointed at my desk. One directly pointed at my desk, and 1 that captures my…
I got passed over
My supervisor accused me of being terse in the past. He just prompted someone younger, over me, who does not have a degree, have not worked any harder than I did during the pandemic and drops F-bombs all the time when talking to people (including right in front of our supervisor). What's your “passed over” story? and how did you cope before you found an exit?
