Work in a position under the state for Texas. Manager is now requiring everyone to have a doctors note to use our sick leave as a coded time off, whether it's one day or four. Otherwise they're going to be chipping away at our PTO. I have over 40hrs of sick time but am not always going to go to the docs when I get the shits from eating bad sushi. Manager flat out said its due to having call in issues. sigh Life is grand.

I May be wrong or not know how the system works but here it goes. I got a job in a new field I was trying to get into for months. I have the degrees and certifications but no experience in it so I was offered 15.43 an hour that’s their minimum for this position which I accepted happily knowing I’ll get experience. Second, the job had to be close to my home and kids school so I may be able to pick them up on time. This job fit the criteria for both which was also exciting. Lastly, the hours were perfect for me to pick up my preschool kids on time. For those of you who have kiddos preschool ends at around 3pm and you have to pay for extra after school care. As of the writing of this post, a little over twelve hours have passed since the incident. I work at a small, privately owned gas station in a densely populated urban area of one of the largest cities in the country, a place absolutely filled with drug addicts and gang violence. I work the night shift, but luckily, I am completely safe behind bulletproof glass and only serve through the window. The Christmas week schedule was no different than normal, with the manager working Monday morning as she always does, but for some unknown reason, she changed the schedule at the very last minute on Sunday night so she and her sister (assistant Manager) can have Monday off, forcing one of our young (17) new hires to work completely alone at 6am the day after Christmas.
