So where I work when checking people out you can ask them if they would like to roundup to the nearest dollar to donate to whatever. I normally only ask when it’s over 50 cents. This lady came through my line and her total was like $20.15 so I didn’t ask her to donate. She started saying “donate” over and over again. I finally put 2 and 2 together and asked her if she wanted to donate. Then she had the audacity so say “ that wasn’t so hard now was it”. I almost jumped across the counter. Only that saved her was my dog. I don’t want my baby to starve just because a bitch wanna act up. I don’t get payed enough for this.
Christmas pay.
Christmas is upon us, unfortunately many will be working for low wages and long hours. I think how nz does it with pay on Christmas Day should be done all around the world. In Nz you must pay 1.5x an hour plus you get an extra days PTO. Do you think this would be a good idea to implement?
Wibta? I work in a factory that produces mainly aerosol. Right now, they have me run a non-aerosol line, and I have to be accompanied by a temp. One of the biggest problems with working with temps is that they typically don’t speak fluent English. This machine is a literal Frankenstein that constantly breaks down. I only received four days of training with two separate trainers… both sessions were months apart from one another. The last time I ran this machine, the temp was moving slower than molasses, wouldn’t watch the caps, and wouldn’t stack the skid right, even though I set the first layer since it’s a weird pattern. This temp has been here for months. They put me on the dirtiest machine we have the day before my surgery. I couldn’t even clean it properly since I ran out of time because the temp couldn’t figure out how…
Make supervisor favors female employees
Most male bosses I had extremely favors female employees. They talk to them like they’re humans and treat me like I’m nobody just because I’m a man. I don’t know what they’re thinking. Maybe because I don’t have a vagina. I’m sorry but this is ridiculous.
No raise, no bonus
I work for a major consulting company. This year I've gotten nothing but positive feedback, all recorded too. My last review my manager had only good things to say, and yet I got no bonus and no raise. They said I needed improvement, but would not tell me what I needed to improve on. I'm already making less than my peers, they really had to rub it in during the holiday season didn't they. Everything is bullshit
Passed out and still had to work
My first job I worked at an amusement park near my house. I was 14 and it was the only place that would hire me at the time. I was only getting paid 5.00 an hour as they were able to pay below minimum wage due to it being seasonal employment. Anyway, I was a costume character at the park which means I would have to dress up in different character outfits (mouse, dinosaur, cat etc) and do meet and greats with the kids in the park. We had to do them for an hour at a time and the costumes were riddled with mold and while they did have fans to try to cool us down all of the fans in the costumes were broken and countless requests to fix them were ignored. One time on a particularly hot day one of my coworkers passed out in her costume…
As someone who works at a famous retail jewelry store, I have cried twice AT WORK and gotten yelled at four times in the past month. This comes from a someone who hardly ever cries over things strangers say. Like sorry we ran out of pieces in stock one day before Christmas. Sorry for not carrying a large jewelry box from the back of the store to the front of the store where you were standing just to show it to you while bumping into every customer packed in the store. Sorry for not letting you into the store because it was jam packed and you had to stand in the cold (as was I for an hour at the point). Sorry for even existing. Idk why I’ve cried and sobbed even though it isn’t my fault and I’m not this sensitive. It’s frustrating as I’d never treat another person…
