Criticize me ? Get fired overnight
Manager laughs at me for calling in sick
I’ve only been working with this company since November first. I ended up getting a stomach bug the day of my 8 hour shift. I had been throwing up since 5am with little to no sleep. I call the manager to tell her I probably won’t be able to make it today 3 hours before open and she laughed at me. “Hey (managers name) I’ve been throwing up since 5am and I don’t think I’ll be able to make it “ “laughs ohhhh (my name) laughs again we’ll see what we can do” She hung up. I always show up on time and do everything I’m supposed to. If I get confused by things since I’m new some of the people there are very good at helping me but this one manager is very condescending and treats me like I’m stupid. I asked her about hard-tags and screamers because some…
Happy Holidays, sucker
The company I work for conducts manufacturing operations for the defense industry, virtually 24/7. We attained record profits in the last quarter, which resulted in each hourly employee being provided with a single doughnut, some room-temperature barbeque, and an insulated coffee cup. Salaried employees get profit sharing. A few days ago, each shift had a meeting with the plant GM, who's also a corporate VP. He stood up there and gave us this long “mea culpa” speech. The content bore a lot of resemblances to Zuckerberg's speech, but ultimately it boiled down to this: due to a disconnect between forecasting and Operations, or possibly a failure on the part of the Marketing and Sales team… or possibly a failure on the part of our commercial distributors to move product… whatever the cause, we needed to “pause production.” Consequently, all of the employees in the two buildings that compromise the value…
Returning to the office
I work in tech support for a UK based broadband company. During the pandemic we were all working from home until the last 6 or so months where they’ve been increasing the number of days we’re expected to work in the office (at the moment it’s 3 in office and 2 at home per week). After a chat with my managers manager I was informed that the company will not budge on this but they will make allowances on a case by case basis. I’ve managed to get away with lying by saying I’ve broken my ankle and am currently housebound and have been for the last 2 months but obviously I can’t keep this up forever. Quite simply paying for travel into and from the office 3 times a week is going to cost money that I’m going to struggle to afford and when they’ve set the precedent over…
Trigger warning
Hi, Im looking for advise on how to solve this issue. Sorry in advance if my writing seems scrambled or bad grammar, I am way stressed and needed to rant. I have been working at this chain retail job for 3 years and genuinely love the work that I do and the people I work with. I am currently a lead in charge of receiving, the store is small enough that everybody does everything, I or management might cashier or cashiers might help with receiving. The assistant store manager ASM has been the ASM for a year and a half and has always had her own clique but the old SM would keep her in check and keep the work going. A new SM took over six months ago when the old SM quit. At first she was productive and the store ran smoothly but as she became friends with…
