Planning to blindside my team with resignation after months of bullying

I work on team of 10 in a fast paced, emotionally demanding field that deals with the public. We meet people when they are at their worst. I’m the second most senior person with 8 years. Most senior staff is around 25 year mark and riding it out until retirement benefits. In my time on the team- ENTIRE staff has turned over 3 times and we’re on 6th supervisor. Just after Covid most of team quit within 5 months and we ran short staffed for a year before hiring new staff.

When we hired, we picked up a ‘Mean Girl’ (MG)

MG has made life a living hell with gossip, back biting, passive aggressive and toxic behavior. There’s a team of women I regularly have to interact with (they are rude, catty and abrasive) and when MG started they all became friends.

Once MG entered the picture- the group stopped interacting with me at all and I can’t collaborate to do my work.

MG also terrorized one of her previous office mates into requesting a new assignment in order to escape the office. MG’s office has two other seats and is where new hires land. They end up in MG’s posse.

Recently Mini MG was hired and I was partnered to help train. MiniMG has never done this type of work before. People in this role need to make a decision and provide an answer to other teams and there isn’t time to process feelings or have conversations in the midst of that. If I’m frank- I’m not certain newbie has what it takes to do this work and they have been missing pieces in the process of decision making. This then falls on me to clean up later. I have been asking MiniMG questions to help them learn to figure out the missing parts so it won’t happen again.

Mini MG shares office with MG. MG hates me. Recently out of the blue Mini MG burst into my office with a speech prepared about how I’m “Rude and condescending.” How they “encourage (me) to self reflect on how (I) communicate with others.”

Are you f$#king kidding me?!?

I was also told they no longer want me to ask questions or teach anything. And I shouldn’t communicate with them on our messaging app.
After knowing me for 2 weeks? Really?

Normally I have a pretty tough skin but in staff meetings, teammates roll their eyes when I speak or contribute. If there is a new task or suggestion that is in ANY way related to me- the group will pretend to go along with it- then ignore it.

We also have a new supervisor who is young (younger than MG). Attempts to discuss situation have been brushed off and it was suggested that I was “trash talking” MG by bringing it up and “needed to work on it”.

Also tried to discuss situation with mini MG and outburst, was asked what was “wrong with me” and why I was feeling frustrated, was told I was overreacting.

Needless to say I have been feeling isolated, unappreciated and unliked.

Came to a head last week when supervisor decided that he wants to change schedules. He held a couple of meetings to “discuss” and “get feedback”. Halfway through second meeting I figured out he wasn’t interested in feedback and had made his mind up- meetings were a charade to give illusion our ideas were being considered but end result was going to be what he wanted no matter what was said.

I was informed after 6 years of having the same schedule- they’re changing my days. Long timer literally says they want to “get theirs” and are taking one of my days.

I’m given a different schedule with no say. Aside from obvious problems- it means I no longer have any alone time without my spouse, something we BOTH need for our well-being and sanity.

To top it off, supervisor sent message Friday attempting to guilt me into switching into the new schedule sooner than he can legally force me to. (Contract says he has to give certain number of days before schedule can change)

Team has been short staffed and hurting for YEARS. This is first time we have had all positions filled since 2021. I know for fact long timer thinks I’ll never leave and supervisor thinks same.

There’s another job within company I’m qualified for supervisor can’t block me from taking and I plan to blindside him and the rest of these terrible people with my resignation.
