I've spent several hours on the dumb bullshit every employer expects from a new employee complete with totally awful anti-discrimination and harassment training video that was in excess of an hour. I also have a (probably mostly pointless) future virtual meeting with the HR person, which has to happen before my first day as well.
I'm now in the weird position of asking how to submit my hours for all this “onboarding” work that I'm doing for the company before I even showed up for my first day, which used to be done in office and was paid no questions asked (I'm old enough to remember!) – they've said nothing about compensating me for the multiple hours required to complete all these tasks. I hate the way capitalists use technology to just screw us out of more and more.
Has anyone else had to be like, “hey, can I be paid for all the hours you required me to spend on work shit before my first day?”
ETA: If they don't say anything I will just be submitting the hours and expecting to be paid because OF COURSE this company respects the Fair Labor Standards Act. smiley face**
