Okay so I (20’s F) am currently working for a Cosmetic Injectables company (think Botox and lip filler) as an Admin.
My six month probation is ending on the 1st of next month but I think I want to cut and run before then due to the practices of the owner and clinics.
The owner who is aDoctor cannot legally practice in Australia as their license has been suspended but they keep the clinics open by not having direct contact with patients.
The cosmetic nurses who work here are expected to squeeze what should be a 30 minute appointment into 15 minutes including confirmation from the doctor on staff to proceed plus all the forms filled out and treatment on top. They usually have appointments back to back most of the time as well. They get yelled at, abused and taken advantage of on a day to day basis with next to no help from management.
Things are so bad that in the last 2 weeks of Oct and 1st 2 weeks of Nov we had 3 new nurses, 1 new PATS (patient services I.e. Me) and 2 seasoned managers all quit. That’s 6 people in the span of 4 weeks.
When I started 6 months ago we had 4 Admins based around Australia, 1 left and another joined when I was a few months in and then 2 of them have quit in the last couple months. So myself and the other Admin are basically doing the work of 3 people with no reprieve for the last 2 months and it looks like no new hires on the horizon either.
Now here’s why I’ve gotten to this point, we do what are called clinic runs where we take paperwork and products to other clinics local to us. I was asked to do one today but my car is currently fucked and I couldn’t do it.
They had the balls to ask me to get a ride share out to one of the farther out clinics ($40 one way!) and then couldn’t understand why I said no because I don’t have $80 to spend on a damn ride share right now after other unexpected costs have recently come up.
I offered to go to my local one for the stuff they need to bring it up with me this morning and said it was all I could do at short notice. They got pissed and said not to worry about it.
They’re quite capable of doing the run but don’t want to do it themselves because why should they have to right?
This isn’t the first time I haven’t been able to do something for them that they’ve got pissed about but I don’t think sticking around would be worth it.
