I work at -megacorp- and they've officially done away with sick days. They've been merged into our PTO.
Since I'm a new hire, I don't get PTO until September and I've been here for about two months now.
If I have a doctor's appointment, or have any official need for anything related to time off, I have to take the “occurance”. Once we hit five occurances the disciplinary process starts.
My only option is to open a case with an associated company to process my absences as either FMLA or ADA protected absences. Since I haven't started this process, I have no idea how difficult it is to get my doctor's visits classified in a certain way to meet that criteria.
Furthermore, we don't even know if our absences are protected by FMLA or ADA until we hit 5 absences and the disciplinary process starts. (The absences are rescinded if accepted during this time.)
I have anxiety and a chronic illness if anyone was curious.
Regardless, why the FUCK, do I have to jump through so many hoops to not get fired for scheduling days in advanced (up to a week or two) for routine visits?
