Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to the sub and I'm living it. My coworker just shared this great story with me and I wanted to post it in here. We work in a hospital.
Yesterday she was working the er greet desk. There was an older man standing to the side, not in line. Security asked if he was checking in and he said no, he just needs a checkup. My coworker went to check on him to see how she could help. He said that he didn't have any symptoms but his work was requiring him to get a Dr note before he could go to work and he didn't know why. He insisted on calling his boss so my coworker could talk to her.
The supervisor said that his work productivity had been going down in the last few weeks and they're worried about him and that he is not allowed to go back to work until he was medically cleared. My coworker asked the boss which symptoms he had. Turns out none. “So you want him to pay for an ER visit when he has no symptoms, in order to be able to work again? You realize that doesn't make any sense right?”, my coworker said.
At that point, the patient grabbed the phone and said, “in that case, I guess I'm retiring early.”
Haha, good for him!
