Toxic Work Environment, No Empathy

I can't hold back on this anymore ; I have to tell the whole story. Recently got a job offer in education, a very exhausting and draining position, repetitive work, long hours, and experienced micromanaging all the time. Only had been there for two weeks. When I had an emergency situation last weekend, I emailed my manager immediately, saying I would be absent for a couple of days and I was open for work adjustments, otherwise I might need to quit. I also contacted my only co-worker and explained my situation. However, no response from management, nobody contacted me, only my co-worker was trying to relay the manager's messages to me, which caused a lot of miscommunications. When I asked how work was going and I could come back on Thursday to wrap things up for the week, my co-worker said “no worries, we're covering everything”, so that I mistakenly thought they were covering my parts and didn't need my presence there. While I was still busy dealing with things in life, my co-worker asked me to contact the manager again, saying she thought I was coming in that day. I was so sick of the lack of communication and toxic management there, so I emailed, apologized for the miscommunications and my absence, and then resigned. While I got a response this time very fast, my manager accused me of “not being professional” and even NOT SEVING THE INTEREST OF THE COMPANY.

Great lesson about human nature. More things about the work environment: One time while I (F mid-20s) was on my break, the CEO's husband came to my desk, unlocked my work computer, and browsed through my work files. More disgustingly, he left a used tissue paper on my desk. When I came back and saw this, he was still in the room and I looked at him, but he didn't say anything. THAT WAS DISGUSTING AND DISRESPECTFUL. I was shocked but now realize they are money-hungry, shitty people. I probably need another week to completely let it go. Wish everyone good luck in job haunting, and I hope nobody will meet such crappy management.
