So I have plans to leave my job very soon, which has made me recall the amount of times people have given their unsolicited advice/opinions about my working situation.
Right now I intend to give an official resignation letter instead of a two weeks notice to my current employer due to the poor treatment I received while working there. When I expressed this to people I trust they tell me that I MUST put in my two weeks regardless when I know for a fact that I wouldn't be using them as a reference for future employment and because of the fact that I simply just don't care considering how poor the working conditions were.
Before getting a job with this employer while I was searching for new employment a year ago I had people left and right telling me who/who not to work for, what kinds of jobs to work, and people criticizing the job opportunities I applied for which made searching for a job that much more difficult due to the amount of conflicting information I was receiving from multiple people. And when I tell people what my plans are I feel like I'm always criticized for it regardless of who I talk to.
Now That I'm going back to looking for jobs I have no intention of telling people what my plans are until after they happen, which is really unfortunate because I know that it can be helpful to reach out to people to get help for better opportunities. But I feel like instead of helping give proactive advice people push their own personal opinions on others instead of actually listening and allowing the person to make a decision for themselves regarding their own employment.
