What kind of job do you need to afford a home?

Average house is about $450k. I’m a fucking network engineer and that’s outta my price range. Sure I could “afford” the payment but then I wouldn’t be able to afford socks. The sad part is most people on this sub make less than me. Have you all started mortgaging your groceries yet? Christ sakes this is the worst. Luckily tho, according to boomers, it’s just because we are lazy
