Background: I'm in an admin position, working closely with top executives at a startup. I asked for a pay raise after my trial period, since I'm underpaid for someone with my experience, qualification and compared to the industry average for the same position.
After 2 months of silence after 2 executives promised me (to my face) that they would give me the raise and additional benefits.
Now, one of them is telling me they can't give me that raise because (Bingo time!):
– You haven't demonstrated enough values
– You need to think from our side
– You have made too many mistakes
– You can prove your ability by working in the same trial condition for another [long period of time] (paraphrasing here)
– If you are good, we will automatically give you a raise
Essentially, I need to continue working and prove myself with more tasks and responsibilities at the same shitty pay for another period of time. If my bosses think I can do the new tasks well (keep in mind, the new tasks are really heavy and not what I was hired to do/ i.e. not in the OG JD), then maybeeee they will give me a raise. If not, bye bye job lol.
