My wife was unable to get the accreditation she wanted in college so she graduated with a BS in Medical lab science and was looking at another program to get this accreditation and the director thought she would be a good fit in the program. She asked the director if they could help get her a job between now and June when the program starts so she could save up for the fee for the program. They got her in as a medical center lab associate and was offered a pay of $16 an hour. Which I thought was rather low but the job is basically only checking in samples and distributing to the appropriate labs and only requires a HS diploma. She has since discovered 2 months in that the avg starting pay is $21/hr. It seems highly unethical to offer someone 25% below the avg rate in hopes they will take it. I would never think to negotiate a higher starting rate by asking for 25% more than was offered that just seems absurd. So given that she is hoping to start this accreditation program with the same computer in 7 months what would be a good corse of action for her to take?
