So, I play in a band which was performing on Beale St in Memphis last night. It was the end of the night and the staff of the venue was shutting it down. The manager was reprimanding one of the employees for something – didn't catch what it was, but the way this guy talked to the other dude was downright abusive. He was straight up yelling at this guy in a very intimidating way – like how a guy sounds right before he starts throwing punches. It was very unnerving. I had no idea people talked to each other like that in a work environment. Even the other staff was kinda freaked out. One of the servers tried to diffuse the situation by telling the manager that the other guy was only 27, but the manager wasn't listening and said something to the effect of “I was 27 once but i wasn't a fkking dumbass”.
Wow. This is why I've never worked in the food service industry.
