Work wants all maintenance on company vehicle done on personal time.

My job just made me sign this new vehicle agreement that they came up with. As I was reading it over, I saw some points that said any type of vehicle maintenance shall not be performed on company time. I’m fine with washing the vehicle, but in my case, my van has been overdue for an oil change, tire rotation and balance, and it also has some break problems that need to be checked out. I’ve told my supervisor multiple times that my van needs serviced, expecting them to open up my work schedule so I can take the van in to the shop that they use (side note: they only have accounts with two mechanics, both of which are over an hour from where I live). Now that this new policy has been made, that means I have to drive my van over an hour to a mechanic shop…

Now that this new policy has been made, that means I have to drive my van over an hour to a mechanic shop on my days off and have them make these repairs. And mind you, this isn’t a 5 minute check up. This is an all day thing. I would also have to get someone to drive over with me so they can pick me up so we can loiter in town all day, or go home, then take me back at the end of the day. And if my van breaks down, it’s my fault.

I’m super frustrated because if I make an issue out of this, I know they’ll play the “having a company vehicle is a privilege” card. They act like I don’t already have personal things to take care of on my days off.

TLDR: new policy states that it is my fault if I don’t use my days off to take company vehicle in for maintenance.
