The anti-business attitude here
It is disheartening how everyone seems to relish every trip up by a business. I am against exploitation and believe employees are the business but it seem like none of you get how a business owner often has to turn him or herself inside out to try to make the business work and often are the last to be paid. I think some of you live under this illusion that every business own is ripping everyone but the reality is that most businesses fail and the only people that made money were the employees. While many here would never try to start a business, I though invite you all to talk to someone with a small business to hear what it really is like.
Hey I just started working as a pharmacy technician after working really hard to get nationally licensed. A pharmacist that I do not report to, but works in the same pharmacy physically reprimanded me by grabbing me by the shirt while she corrected me on something. It’s on camera. HR made her “apologize” to me for it but she said in the apology that she doesn’t remember doing so…. I really don’t want to lose this job I just started a little over a month ago, what should I do?
But that isn’t going to stop me from pressing on. I worked at my last job over 8 years and was working on my side hustle to grow my business before clocking out one last time, but ended up having my last day in October last year. I have a lot of respect for many of the members in this community and can’t believe the constant stories of shitty bosses and managers. But I understand how it can be though and feel lucky that most of my work experience had been in places with good unions that shielded us from really shitty management. I just wanted to put it out there to the people who know they are good workers and don’t like their jobs/bosses/co-workers: You can do it. You got this. I took a lot of training and am now a business coach. I get to be my own…
Got into a debate the other day at work, about what the average amount per year (per location) the average company spends, to buy their employees loyalty (IE pizza parties, snacks, and the like). My assumption is about 2-8K per year, depending on how large of a store/location we are talking about. Or to put it into better context the cost to increase a single full time employee’s pay rate by 1-4 dollars an hour. Not even the whole team, a single person…. So what do you all think, what is the average amount spent to buy your loyalty (and how much of it do you think can be written off during tax season)?
Anti-work Anime Recommendation
In case there are any weebs about, the anime The Dungeon of the Black Company is probably the most capitalist subversive show I've ever seen. The show is about a rich a**hole who is only out for himself getting transported to another world where he becomes another cog in the corporate machine. Hi all! I'm asking this for a friend She is an unpaid intern for a non profit and theres an event coming up for which they flew out a couple of other (unpaid) interns. Essentially, her boss asked that she host two of these interns and originally offered no payment. (Apparently they found it too expensive to put them in a hotel even though she says they have sponsors) She accepted because of a misunderstanding around putting certain people in hotels, etc. (not that its too important, just giving the reason why) After talking to us, shes realized that its way out of line for them to ask this of her and is now trying to seek payment. Only problem is that she has certain limitations around working in another country that doesnt allow for her to be paid here. She hopes she can be paid in cash or something.…
