I think everyone should have one month off a year at least

It’s weird how during all your school years, you got summers off and then a week break here and there, and it’s normal, still is to this day. Why do we only get two weeks off a year?! You don’t even get it all at once in most jobs so it takes forever to even build up to even use it in the first place. I really just think a lot of people would be happier with just a couple more weeks off per-year and actually live life a bit instead of only surviving or just existing. I think the pandemic showed that off more than anything.

Found a new job, boss got salty

So I received 2 job offers and I took the leap and am leaving my job. Anything is better than the company I’m with now. Typical overworked and underpaid, my boss doesn’t bring much to the table, ignores my suggestions and treats me like I haven’t been in the industry longer than he has. Well, he asked for time for a counter offer and I said sure why not. I knew I was going to say no but wanted to see what they would offer me to stay. 4 days later I hadn’t heard back and had let it slip I had already accepted the other job. Oof he was irritated instantly, mr I thought you were going to give me time. I said it’s been 4 days and you haven’t followed up, he starts making excuses about how these things take time to get approved through HR (they don’t,…

“The IRS Admits It Doesn’t Audit the Rich Because It’s Too Hard”

Here's an idea – have the entire IRS workforce focus on the top twenty billionaires, instead of picking the pockets of the hundreds of millions of ordinary people who are struggling to live. I guarantee that will result in a whole lot more money for them/us. Oh, that's right – they don't actually care about holding the wealthy to the tax code. It's just about squeezing the rest of us for every literal cent. https://www.gq.com/story/no-irs-audits-for-the-rich

An update to “I make $15 an hour, too much to receive government assistance but not enough to live off of. Yesterday, I had to shoplift ibuprofen for my teething daughter. This sucks.”

Hey y'all. Not sure if some of you remember me but a couple of weeks back, I posted in this sub about the absolute shit situation I was in. My daughter was teething, I has to make the ultimate decision to shoplift baby Tylenol because I was down to less than ten bucks in my bank account. The response I received was overwhelming. Between comments and inbox messages and chat requests – a lot of kind words, a lot of really crappy, downright hateful as well. So many of you though were kind and offered help (and I took a lot of you up on that but I know a lot of you I also missed haha) I wanted to come back with a slight update: my daughter caught C0vid from her daycare and we're still dealing with the aftermath of that. My kiddo just had a slight fever and…

Mid-30s. I’ve never worked because I’m disabled. I’m planning on finishing a degree and joining the workforce. What should I say on my resume?

Really. I've only worked on the occasional display fireworks show. I used to be an activist. I've finished three years of an undergrad psychology degree. I'm an autodidact who loves to learn and educate others. I've lived below the poverty line on a disability pension for my entire adult life. I'm autistic. I have ADHD, C-PTSD, chronic pain, and delayed sleep phase disorder. I've recently found an ADHD med that actually works. I'm a completely different person. I'm as organized as a goddamned librarian. I have no idea how I ever functioned before taking it. Incredibly, my sleep disorder has vanished. I can fall asleep at night and wake up in the morning. One of my sleep specialists commented: “Sometimes these things happen and we have no idea why.” My plan is to spend the next few years catching up on reading and writing. I don't consider it frivolous. I'll…

Awful Owner and Work Environment

Hello all This might be a bit of a rant and I am new to Reddit as well. I want to make it clear that I am not anti-work but more anti-exploitation and simply just treating others as individuals with huge amounts of potential. Anyways, I work in a fabrication plant with stone and work as a design engineer. I have been working for almost a year and I have noticed a lot of issues. Our boss expects our machines to literally run 24/7. Anyone knows with any fabrication experience knows that any piece of machinery will have around 80-85% capacity on weekdays and weekends is around 25-40% (depending on what is running). Literally got a call from higher-ups wondering why one of our robots isn't running. It is just crazy to think that he would want us to drop everything we are doing ON THE WEEKEND to do…
