In anticipation of tomorrows disciplinary meeting, if a fire alarm goes off just before the end of shift can I leave a few minutes later once it hits the end of my time and the company stops paying me? Any advice or resources would be helpful thanks Edit: this company would be the first to dock 30minutes pay for 1 second of lateness
I got a new job with a $15k pay increase, so I gave notice at my current job last week. The biggest reason I'm leaving is the workload… there's enough work on my desk for 4 people to stay busy and the stress is physically affecting me. My boss has ignored me for a week now and I'm about sick of it. I work remotely so at the very least, I need instructions on returning their computer and equipment. I just got confirmation that they'll pay out my accrued PTO, but I'm seriously considering using it and just being done. Is there any reason why I should stay and finish my notice?
so less than the state minimum wage then
Hey everyone, I figured this a good place to post this. I was just on vacation this past weekend, and my friend I was rooming with tested positive for Covid-19. Both my girlfriend and I have been showing symptoms since we came back on Monday but we didn’t think much of it at the time. I came into the office today anyways and that’s when I got the text from my friend that he had gotten covid. I communicated the entire situation to my boss, and her response to me was to stay in the office and continue with my daily tasks. This doesn’t seem right to me considering we work in a food related business. I live in the US, Colorado to be specific. Is there any type of report I can file against my employer for making me work even though I am suspecting that I have covid?…
Our new co-worker told us that our boss privately complains about me and other co-workers to her. She has done the same to me, and this is the first I’ve learned she has talked shit about me. She says I do nothing. She’s told me other employees are crazy, or are weird and ask for peoples’ numbers and just fiddles with the product all day. The company that hired me is always attentive and asking me how things are going. Should I be honest?
Possible Recession?
Is the possibility of a recession freaking anybody out when it comes to job security and moving on from a poor job? I expected the Great Resignation to last a few years and I'm afraid the possible recession might put a damper on that. I
My bosses “fun” new initiative
My boss has introduced a initiative to the workplace, and 2 days in, I already want to throw myself into oncoming traffic. The new initiative is “to do something above and beyond everyday!” My problems are numerous with this. One – I get paid minimum wage and am the least paid member of staff. I also have to use public transport to get to where I work, which effectively means I work an hour for free. I got bollocked for being late, and told to catch an earlier train (they come once an hour, meaning I would have to wake up at 6:30am to start a job at 9:00, meaning I’d have to spend an hour every morning in the freezing cold, waiting for some place to open, and then I’d have to spend more money to stay somewhere warm until it was time to go to my job, joy)…
Having to find another job because I only get paid $10/hr from my first job is debilitating. I have chronic neck pain that hasn't healed from a car accident I had years ago. I shouldn't have to kill myself just to afford basic medical care because my job refuses to pay me enough. I live alone and have no kids or spouse and I still can't afford to live on a one income/full time job. I'm overworked and on top of that, money gets deducted from my paycheck to pay for parking on the company site. Now I have to get a second job when I need those afterwork hours to rest from my chronic pain. I can't get on disability or Medicaid. I tried. And I can't afford decent healthcare because I'm trying to save money any place I can.
