I’m two months in as a low level manager at the NYC location at small chain of recreational sports gyms. I lead a team of part-time employees, and while I have hiring/firing power, I’m not allowed to adjust pay (although I can suggest it to the C-suite positions for consideration). Our PT staff are paid $16/hour and usually get 3-20 hours a week based on their limited availability. My staff calls out a lot, and I know a huge contributing factor is the low pay. $16/hr in NYC is literally nothing, especially when you’re considering travel time and MTA fare. I’ve asked the CEO if we could up the pay by a dollar at least, which he denied due to “budget restraints.” Any ideas in what I could do? I make a very small commission off of any revenue over budget my program makes, and I’ve suggested to give that…

I’m at a loss here
I’ve (f) been working for this company for about a year and half at this point and currently am in a new position. My old position was essentially customer service. I dealt with sexual harassment often by customers and the company turned a blind eye. It really was upsetting but I just kept my mouth shut because everything was over the phone and not face to face. I switched to my new position a few months ago and while the pay is nice I just took on a set of new problems. While I’m not getting “sexually harassed” one of the men I work under (we’ll call him A) is making me extremely uncomfortable. He finds it funny to “stress me out” and taunts me. He will dump about ten different projects on my desk and say “you stressed yet?” With a smirk. He even asks me to do physical…
The other day at my job we and my co-workers were outside taking a break when this guy comes down the alley hanging out his window. We were all looking at him cause he was waving towards us because his brothers gf was there. Then he parks his car starts walking towards us with 2 pistols in his hands starting using racial slurs talking about he hates when people stare at him. 3 of us went inside but the new girl started walking towards him because she knows who this is(her boyfriend's brother). This girl working there almost got 3 of the stores employees killed but my work says we are keeping her because she is a good worker. She has been there for 3 days. I'm really not sure what to do but I no longer feel safe at work.
I just wish that things like rent weren’t so high like it is right now
Mistreated by HR as an intern
I’m currently doing (an unpaid) internship in communications. As the good little intern that I’ve tried to be, I gladly accepted an assignment to report about an event. Long story short, the HR person that arranged the event was irritated that I came “too early” (even though I was told that was when I needed to be there) and gave me less than 10 minutes to do interviews (she also told me that I didn’t need to interview anybody). Then I wasn’t allowed to be in the same room as them and had to wait for the people I interviewed to come out for photos. The next day I get a Skype-call from the HR-person where she “explains herself” by saying that I didn’t need to be there. When I told her, “maybe we needed to have email contact before I showed up” she coldly tells me that it was…
I don't know if this post is going to get anywhere, but I am not sure what to do so I am kinda just going to word-vomit here. I work from home doing office work for a home services company, my 1-year review has come up and it didn't go well. Now I am totally unsure what to do. About a month ago as it was getting close to my 1 year date, my manager asked me an offhanded question. “How much do you make now anyway?” – Manager “$18.50” – Myself I had misremembered, I was actually hired on for $19.50, but more on that in a minute. Unbeknownst to me, soon after that question, my manager started discussing my pay change with their boss. They came to the agreement that I would get a $1 raise from $18.50 to $19.50, which to be honest with you was a…
My Manager is a Dumpster Fire
My manager is a dumpster fire. Puts employees down, degrades them, gives them work then takes it away when it's at or near completion. Will sign off on deliverables and later say they're inaccurate. Recently he fabricated an impromptu and completely fallacious performance review, and worked with HR and his manager to codify it before presenting it to me. I found it slanderous, defamatory, and frankly embarrassing. HR has asked me to sign it to acknowledge receipt but I haven't done so yet. Even though the signature is to acknowledge receipt I feel that my signature could be misconstrued as me agreeing to what's written. I wrote an appeal to my manager who said he was going to talk to his manager about it. The next time we synced up he said he had not talked to his manager about it and noted that he wouldn't. I've been thinking for…
For me it's 30,000 usd . I can buy a house in my country, set up a small garden , sell vegetables/flowers. But the goal is distant for now. Darn i wish!!
Just got laid off for a bullshit reason. Idk about you but there's a few people who could use a good anonymous yelling. So here's the deal reddit. I'll yell at your boss for a dollar, or even just some karma. Here's the form Maybe it will make some money. Maybe it will all be free calls Maybe it will get auto deleted But we'll all have some laughs. 🤣
