Had a bit of a bad experience at work today. I work part time at two different organizations that both have very good ties with one another. I have agreements with both so that my schedule and priorities don’t conflict with one another. Let’s call them A and B for sake of privacy and stuff. I’ve been out sick for the past couple weeks, couldn’t work a couple shifts at workplace A, so the manager there reached out to a co-worker of mine workplace B to ask if they could pick up the shift (the night before so it was very last minute). They picked up my shift at workplace A, effectively saving the day because they were very understaffed. Today, after work at workplace B, the manager there got the entire staff together to point out that my co-worker should not have picked up my shift, and went on…

It seems like every passing day brings about more bullshit. It’s been over a decade since the US government has raised minimum wage. Millions of people still believe the propaganda fed to them by corporations, MSM, and both parties. So I recently got a new job in a tech-adjacent field, despite having no actual tech experience other than being a younger millennial who knows how to Google until I find the answer. The job involves a lot of customer service though, which I have experience with in spades. Anyhow, I am learning a lot as I go, but there’s plenty I’m insecure about. My job is phone-based and we have metrics we’re supposed to hit. I’m consistently at the bottom of the list in things like average call resolution time because I’m not as familiar as the other five techs. They also want that capped at 8 minutes which is ridiculous based on the kinds of troubleshooting we do, but two people usually average about 7 minutes and 30 seconds. I’m more like 12 or 15.
