Not sure if this is allowed here so lmk and I will remove if not. So I found out today that my boomer Grandfather fell on ice leaving a BK this last winter. He is still recovering from a broken ankle and concussion. He's over 80 and in rapid decline of health. A BK lawyer showed up and spoke with my grandfather, he told my grandfather that if he sued BK, the price of the food would go up and would probably shut the BK down. He went on to say that my grandfather should have used the drive through instead of walking into the diner because the sidewalks were not shoveled/iced and would use it to prove negligence on his side. Job doesn’t want to pay overtime.
My job decided that if an employee covers the shift of a coworker, and because of that they go over 40 work hours, they would not be payed their deserved overtime since “the extra hours weren't company requested” mind they extend part-timers everyday by 1-2 hours. I think I will quit tomorrow. However I feel bad for the immigrant middle-age workers that cannot do the same. If anyone can give me suggestions of any job that doesn't feel that exploitative, let me know. I need a break.
Is this discrimination?
My wifes employer just gave her a verbal warning for taking too many sick days. Her boss stated that the next sick day would be a final written warning, then termination after the next one. She has 2 sick days left (until November 4th) before she is fired on the rolling calendar. She is 20 weeks pregnant, we have two kids (6 and 3) that have to be home from school or daycare when they are sick. We split the responsibility of staying home with the kids but she is still apparently too close to her limit.
