My boss is PSYCHO
I am a teacher of German as a foreign language. Most of my work is done in private arrangements directly with the students. However, I do get offers from language schools from time to time. They usually give me all the details about the offer: when and where would I teach, to how many students, for how long, with which materials… The only thing missing is how much I would be paid. The thing is that I know they will ask me later on: “How much do you expect to earn?” Whenever I can afford the risk, I don't wait for it to happen. I ask as soon as possible: “How much does a teacher earn in your school?” The reactions are wild. They are not expecting this behaviour. Sometimes the conversatiom gets very weird and dies out. Sometimes I get a figure. But today I got the most sincere…
First a confession: I don't listen to a lot of news. I always believed to give 110%. I just saw the edited coverage on here how the rail strike would “… cripple the economy…”. That post in particular really showed/proved to me what BS is being thrown about to convince the American public rail workers rights have no value. This is F-ING outrageous. I could go on…just thank you to this sub for shoveling the corporate/government greed and manipulation to the side so we can see that this train is about to over a cliff.
Digital tipping?
I had a quick question how many of y’all have worked in the restaurant or fast food business where the order is online pickup and the tip actually goes to the workers? I always tip on the order when placed online and I was doing it on a recent group order and one of my coworkers was like I worked there and the digital tip never gets to the employees and that they never see it. So now I’m thinking how often I have given a tip to the owners and not the actual employees I might start carrying cash from now on though.
Employer Wants to Trick Me?
So as the title says, i feel like my employer wants to trick me. I work in Germany and i have started working for this employer in September this year. My working contract lasts till 31.12.2023. In November i had an accident on my way to work and ripped my ligament. Since then i have been on sick leave. Its been almost a month of sick leave and i will be returning to work soon. But today my employer called me and told me that this month of sick leave is gonna cost him a full pay and i havent been working for that time so its a loss on his side. I told him that i understand him but that he should also understand that i didnt intend to get hurt and that my doctor didnt allow me to work till my leg is fully healed. Anyways after that…
I just wanted to get this off my chest and get some opinions, originally this didn't bother me but as I think about it more and more it's becoming the opposite. Context! There is Company A which I work for as a Senior Dev and Company B which I'm hired by on behalf of Company A. Company A uses Company B because they already work with Company B on other projects and either as a cost cutting measure (lol, irony) or because it's in the relationship building contract (I'm not at all sure what it's called or if it's even a thing). Either way, all my work is done for Company A, Company B just manages my contract, Salary, etc. I just had a conversation with my Not Manager (I work with them and their team; they're not my direct manager but still involved with important decisions involving me. I'm…
Taskmasters are quick to assign tasks to other people to avoid having to do anything — and yet as soon as a task is completed, somehow the Taskmaster is there to take credit for getting it done. They constantly work to create the perception that they are so busy that they just couldn’t possibly work one more thing into their day. In reality, they have a lazy streak a mile wide, and they work harder to get out of work than most of us do to get our work done. Here we go! I started a new job a little under 3 months ago. Little less money than my previous one, but only 5 minutes from home vs. the 30-40 minutes that I had to drive to and from for the previous position. Less pay is directly a result of less responsibility, which I don't mind since it isn't as…
1-1 with my boss today
It's just a check in he does every couple months because we work remotely. However, I have very much been doing the bare minimum, if that. I'm kinda nervous in case it's been noticed, and for right now I need this job. I also just don't care about this job anymore. I hate it. I have no passion for it and it barely pays my bills anyway. I just wanted to get the stress off my chest and hope (in writing) that it goes well and I don't rage quit This company has put me through the most.
I didn’t give a two weeks notice. I didn’t even technically quit. A lot of events happened in the short time I worked there that made it hard to deal with, and one day I was sick and didn’t go in and when I called no one answered and that was just kind of the end of it. I found a better job already with the actual hours I said I can work available to me, and one that is actually full time, but I still need the paycheck for the hours worked there. Today is the day the direct deposit was supposed to reach me, and I feel as if they’re gonna withhold it from me because I no called no show. I could have quit on better terms, but I have a bad habit of keeping toxic jobs at arms length and going back or helping them out…
