Everyone was so happy to see me when I came into work today. I was off for a 2 days and no one was there to do my job and they needed my help. Half way through my shift they told me I had to go home because I worked 32 hours on Thanksgiving week. I still got a bonus but they didn't want to pay OT. They even clocked me out. I guess my help wasn't needed that much.
This is both hilarious and sad. I signed a contract that I worked hard for to get. Fair pay, 25 days off, insurance, fixed salary (as in, I am a salaried employee), very strict overtime rules. It was something I fought for at my current job as the previous contract was garbage. Sounds great, no? Fast-forward literally a week, I am informing work about my intent to take a few days off so I can rest, as I am sick. Basically, I am doing them a favor, since I am using my own days to take sick leave – though then again, I loathe having to go through the process of “proving you are ill”. I just started a job and my badge for clocking in doesn't work I filled out missed punch forms and the supervisor never entered it into the time clock system so my check will be hella short. It's a big company I've emailed a dozen people including HR and they responded for awhile then stopped.I get it's Thanksgiving week but this check is going to leave me hella short with their stupidity. Mechanic – got a new manager, him and I talked forever before he moved up about things that needed changed. He gets the job, puts me in a position to middle-manage, help the whole shop out, train the new guys, etc. This was frowned upon by one guy who swayed the entire shop against me, for doing the job I was asked to do. Doors shut in my face, yelling at me in meetings, disrupting my work, without ever giving examples of what I did wrong, or what could be different. So I’m just consistently confused as to what steps I can and can’t take without my head getting bit off by the new fad of disliking me. Long story short, I almost got punched in the face by a grown man. He didn’t hit me, but he was screaming at me berating me in front of other customers over something dumb. I stood there with my head down until I’d had enough. I didn’t call the police because he finally left after the second time I asked him to. The response I got was having to sit there and listen to how “nice” he is and how much money he spends, so it must be my fault. Basically gas lit by the other employees and owners. He (the customer) made up a bunch of lies to the owners one day after the incident when I wasn’t working. Instead of siding with me they catered to him. He is a complete psychopath and very violent. I'm working as a security in an office building, and I'm quite happy with a job. Thing is, I'm also studying on university, so my hours are limited. A week ago I was on a 15 hour shift and we had a newcomer, a lady in her 30's, asking a lot of questions. I was there to teach her stuff and so I did. After 14 hours of work, she revealed herself as an inspector who was there to see our knowledge and the quality of services we provide. She also stays on the building until December 25th, taking every shift I planned to take. (We're working 2 people per shift) Thing is, I gave my boss 150 hours of my time for schedule so I can afford rent, gas and water. The boss gave me just 31 hours of work, which is basically nothing. I am at this new job only for a month. I will start with the fact that as a newbie you make 600€ for 6 months, half of what collegues with indefinite contract make. I am already 99% sure they will fire me because i don't do so much overtime for free as my colleague. This collegue is also new, she works there for 4 months and she is licking the boss's bottom. We work as embroiders of very expensive brands you all know.. She takes home boxes of clothes that she prepares and should do at work instead. She takes it home and works 3 hours for free. Then she does overtime during the week like 3-4 hours Total. And then she comes on saturdays for 4 hours for free.
