So, I resigned from my last job in September because I had a surgery scheduled in November that requires a 6-8 week recovery time and they told me I couldn’t take more than 3 weeks in a row. I had a good amount of money saved, and I planned on looking for a new job while I was recovering from surgery. Currently, I’m 4 weeks post-op, and I really started cracking down on the job search at around 2 weeks. I majored in film, and my dream is to be able to work as a video editor for a reputable company with pay that won’t leave me just barely scraping by. But I also know that it’s a very competitive field, so I’ve been applying for tons of other jobs, too. I’d say I’ve applied to more than a hundred jobs at this point, and I often try to go…
Month: December 2022
I didn’t get a promotion because I didn’t have “as much experience” and because feedback she has been given is that I am a “know it all.” She could not provide any context, examples, clarity, ways that I can improve – nothing. She could not tell me where I was lacking in experience or where the others who got the job were stronger. I was honest in stating that I was disappointed and frustrated, and did not understand how I had been deemed a “know it all.” I brought up examples of when 2 other coworkers had been visibly upset around all of us at the office, but she pretended like she did not know what I was referring to… I explained, and pointed out that these two instances were in front of the entire team. She then abruptly ends the meeting. We silently walk out. After a minute of…
Tacobell & Luihn VantEdge Partners (LVE Partners LLC) Arizona Branch As the holiday season approaches, many of us are looking forward to spending time with our loved ones and enjoying well-deserved time off from work. But for employees of the local Taco Bell franchise, this holiday season brings disappointment and frustration, as the company has announced that it will not be providing holiday pay to its crew members and shift leaders. This news is particularly galling, as the franchise has revealed that it plans to throw an expensive corporate party for itself, complete with lavish decorations and expensive food and drinks. This is particularly frustrating, as the company has reported record profits this year. Many employees are feeling disrespected and undervalued, especially given the hard work and long hours they have put in throughout the year. It is a bitter pill to swallow, knowing that the company is willing to…
Mark was on to something
It's taken all these years, but I just realized what an absolutely HORRIBLE person Santa is to work for in Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer: Runs a child indoctrination camp to train the children of his existing employees. Tells a child that he is useless because he is different. Expresses his disappointment with the child publicly AND to the child's parents AND, somehow, manages to shame the father for producing the child. As a direct result of his public ridicule and abuse of the child, the child runs away, and when the parents leave to try to find the child, he complains TO THE CHILD, upon his return, that his parents' absence means work is not going to be done. He literally bitches about Dasher needing to take family leave because his child ran away, when his own cruelty is what caused the child to leave. Despite his “concern” about…
Terrified of taking a mental health day
So my attendance at work has been pretty good for the most part I'd say, I think I only missed 8 days this whole year, three of those days because of appointments I've been feeling incredibly anxious and burnt out lately. I took a mental health day 2 weeks ago and I'm really feeling the need to take one tomorrow. My work seems to be pretty understanding with it; as we almost never have a full crew each week but I'm still scared they'll reprimand me for calling in for doing it so close together. is it wise? I work pretty hard but I can't keep going like this.
I think quiet quitting is here to stay, because it's not a consequence of the pandemic or of some other external thing that happened in the world, but a consequence of people not wanting to believe in lies anymore. No more will people follow orders that do not make sense. No more will people simply do what is asked of them just to please someone else. People now know what real value they have for their employers. They have just stopped being blindly obedient and instead look into the consequences of their choices, ask questions and ultimately make decisions that have real, practical value and result in meaningful change. Quiet quitting is the new way of taking control of one's life and leading the way forward. It is a sign of hope for the future. All of this was not possible 20 years ago. It's the ultimate act of self-determination…
This would cut about half their pilot costs. https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/news/airlines-are-lobbying-for-a-surprising-regulations-change/ar-AA15faX1 Just watch, the railroads will lobby for autonomous trains with no onboard crew or with just a conductor.
