Not sure if it fits, but Utah minimum wage is not proper living wage

Sorry, this post may be a bit hard to read if you don't like to read math or have poor focus, or if the uniform page text is difficult for you. If it's the latter, you can look at the attached images to see my calculations, though the paper is a bit incoherent. I did some math on paper a couple of months ago with numbers pulled from a google search (don't remember what it was but something along the lines of “living wage in Utah”) and the base numbers of a full-time job (9:00-18:00, Monday-Friday). Minimum wage in Utah is $7.25/hour, that makes $290/week, which is $1,160/month, which is $13,920/year (this is not take-home pay, this is flat pay). The result I received from that Google search was 43,000-66,000/year. At minimum (based on the aforementioned numbers), you must be paid $22.40/hour to simply live in Utah (43,000/12=3,583.34 > 3,583.34/4=895.84…

My team 40 people team is being cut in half and that’s all we know.

I can’t say much because we all sign NDA. Sorry for the long text. (First post, sorry about any mistakes) Last month they said they are cutting the team in half. No why or how or when or who or even how they are going to decide who stays and who doesn’t. We are a 40 people team. They said they will try their best to relocate within the company, but in the past they’ve done that to other teams and when the try-out month end they tell you “ooooh, you were a not a good fit, I’m so sorry” so they can fire you without breaking the law. And now we’re a having meetings about our metrics, where they nitpick reasons to put the team down when we have one of the best metrics. (Even after the job insecurity vibes) And the managers are acting like we are wrong…

A colleague who is untouchable.

Hey everyone, I noticed a colleague at work who has top, middle and lower management wrapped around her finger. I've been monitoring this for a few years now and it has become extremely noticeable. She does not work in my department, but I have to interact with her for certain projects. She is able to overstep the boundaries in terms of her role and expertise and even overrides the subj matter experts, and managers see this, but just laugh it off as “hehe typical Lisa.” (not real name) The problem is that she has been placed on a pedestal (for some odd reason/s) and it negatively affected everyone's workflow unless you do things her way. There were people who challenged her in the past, but they all lost that battle, including me.
