I don’t think I want to be a manager anymore.

I'm currently a hiring manager at my company, establishing a brand new team so I have had to do so many interviews with potential candidates, and the level of barely masked desperation is absolutely shredding my soul at this point. Out of dozens of applicants, there have only been a small handful with current employment on their resumes, and even people who have been out of work for only a month or two seem so defeated. I don't think that I'm cut out to hold the fates of other people's lives in my hands. Not in a world where work is servitude but not working is death. 🙁
