Anyone else get treated differently for being single with no kids?

Where I work, they have this policy where they can change the schedule as long as they give you 48 hours notice. Which is ridiculous, since people plan things when the schedule comes out two weeks in advance. What if someone made an appointment? Or family plans? Etc. So stupid and I hate it. Anyway… Wednesday night they told me that my schedule for today changed, what if I made plans two weeks ago? I went from being off at 7 to being off just recently (9:30). When I asked Wednesday why it changed, I was told that so and so had something come up with their daughter, and that I could do it since I was single/no kids. Ugh Never tell anyone at your work anything personal that they don’t need to know. I’m the type that’s bad when it comes to standing up for myself. I’m viewing this…

Ugh

Never tell anyone at your work anything personal that they don’t need to know.

I’m the type that’s bad when it comes to standing up for myself. I’m viewing this as nothing I can do since I was given more than 48 hours notice. As well as how I’m just the lowly employee who could be fired at any time so I try and not cause any problems

It’s just super frustrating for obvious reasons.

How would you handle this?

The lack of consideration for my potential plans I made is astounding

I feel like this will happen more often to me now
