I work hard, do a good job and was offered a very large promotion yesterday, C-Suite level. But the promotion pitch has me worried. I'm the dad that never misses a game, I coach most of their teams actually. Sunday's are typically the only day I'm not doing a scheduled activity with one of my children. I had a consulting business for a while and loved the freedom, I could go into school for events and parties, chaperone field trips, but my son has a specific auto-immune disease that requires extremely expensive treatments, and so I now am a corporate drone, for the health care. During the conversation the statement was made “You're a family man aren't you, your kids come first?” I said yes of course they do. Follow up question was “How long do you think that will be the case?” I gave them an estimate of when…

I started a new job just over 2 months ago and we use a program on the computer for everything. Creating, posting, and printing sales orders, receiving, shipping, and charges. Everything. Last week a new program was integrated(mostly for the sales end but we're told my department may need it as well) and shortly after that was a company-wide server update for Windows. Since this happened I've noticed multiple times that the program we started with has been acting up a bit. Printing the wrong packing slip(which I then need to remove my old one and put the new one on), it not carrying over the correct picking list number, the program refuses to print, etc. etc. I have spoken to my manager, the IT guy, tried to tell the guy training me and I've gotten nowhere with these neanderthals. I am only met with “you're just doing it wrong,”…
“My manager is my friend”
Is God a businessman?
I wonder if God looks the other way on the clock.
Hi! I have recently graduate in Master's degree of Chemistry of Natural Substances, my Bachelor's degree is in Chemistry of Foodstuffs. I am currently seeking a job, preferebly a laboratory one. I recently applied for (among others) lab worker in localy company which manufactures diet supplements (vitamin fizzy tablets, vitamin, minerals,…) and fruit drinks for kids. Today I got a call from HR, telling me that in order to work in a laboratory, they need me to work in manufacturing first, 2 months in supplements and 2 months in drinks department. Tbh, I was kinda surprised, but i still agreed on personal meeting. My main issue is that (apart from I haven't studied for 5 years to work in manufacturing) in my country there is 3 months trial period for both employer and employee, and by working 4 months on different position, i would loose this right. I am planning…
Manager Dismissing My Cry For Help
Hi all, So I work at this small fabrication company (11 employees total) and I'm the engineering tech here. Although that's my job title I end up doing a lot more than what was described in my job description; anything from quoting orders to operating machinery and doing quality assurance. Recently I have been completely swamped and my workload is insane, I confided in my higher up about drowning in my workload and how I'd like some help. He told me “We have overtime opportunities available on Saturdays” He completely disregarded my inquiry for assistance by suggesting that more time to work would help. I felt very belittled because I'm not one to ask for help, but to be treated as such was more than I could take. Working more hours wouldn't lessen my workload which is the issue. I already do too much for this company and I'm getting…
Waiting for old age
I'm still young unfortunately so I have many more years to work, I can't wait till I'm in my 70's so I can retire and kick the bucket. I know I'll be the happiest then. No more working with the public and no work in general. It sucks that we were born here without consent and are forced to work until the end of our days.
