Just for context, I've been at this company for a year and I know that I'm making the same if not more than somebody who's been here for 20 years. Our jobs are quite different from each other but it still boggles my mind how somebody could give 20 years to a company that even though pays decently for the position, has no regard for the loyalty that the senior employee has shown. There's also another employee who's been here for 20 years who does the same job that I do, that makes a good wage but even still can't justify the length of time and productivity that this other employee has given. I don't understand. Everytime I look through Indeed or any job board, I usually come across one or two postings for an apprentice position. However, whenever I look, they require like 2-3 years experience in that position. Is being an apprentice not an entry level position anymore? After 2-3 years, I'd expect you to have a decent grasp on what you're doing. So if you're wondering why you can't find someone to fill your $14/hr “apprentice” position, maybe you should review your listing and ask yourself whether or not it sounds sane to you.

My boyfriend (24M) and I (23F) broke up with each other just a few hours ago. The reason is, he has to move out of province to actually be able to find a job that he can make a living with because the cost of living in Vancouver BC is a fucking joke and the level of competition employers have set for jobs is fucking ridiculous. we both can’t do long distance either. I’m so upset, my relationship was the only thing that made it easy for me go through the challenges of life and Capitalism took it away from me. This shit is destroying every aspect of my life. When you can’t even have access to safe housing and a stable income to make a living out of it. How can he thrive in a relationship? You can’t even get your basic needs met. I’m very upset about this.

This is more or less a vent post, but here goes. I'm an uni student, Eastern Europe, currently writing master's and preparing for a doctorate. Our uni sent us a job recruitment mail – not affiliated with uni, but they sent it anyway. Game localization job, requires at least 3 fluent languages, decided to apply just to see if I would get in with my CV. Apparently I did. The company sent a mail inviting me to an interview and language test (estimated at about 2,5h duration) THREE HOURS BEFORE IT STARTED, made it a point to arrive precisely on time or I would not be let in on the video call. I tried to join the call the minute it was scheduled to, but the host was not present. I waited for half an hour before giving up. After that did some digging and apparently the job would pay…

Started a new office job that ended up being longer hours than anticipated, only problem is that i'm great at what I do so I get it done quicker than anticipated. Also slightly resentful of their shitty practices regarding pay and time off not being entirely legal. I could ask for more work but I'd rather have some leeway in case I need it and get other stuff done to make up the extra unpaid hours. What things have y'all found that can be done discreetly at a desk? There are people around that can see my screen so no recognisable things on the screen or spending too long on phone (so no watching videos or online shopping probably). So far I've figured I can do banking/taxes or write a novel.

I worked in a toxic environment where my lead consistently abused everyone, but my boss (VP of a hospital) and the C-Suite love her. Anyway, after I put in a THREE weeks notice, my lead was SO ANGRY because some people were talking about why so many people left since my lead started. I was the longest lasting employee under her (10 months). On the Friday of the week first week of my notice, I was scheduled to get my wisdom teeth removed. This has been scheduled 3 months before and my boss and lead were VERY MUCH aware of it. On Wednesday, I packed SOME of my items because I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to carry too much after my teeth removal.
