I always laugh at talks from employers about things like mental health and self care. Because they’re all full of shit. They don’t care. They could not care less. We don’t need to be spoken to about mental health and self care. We don’t need the pizza parties and measly gift cards. A big reason why mental health is declining is because people are perpetually exhausted from being chronically overworked and underpaid. How are we supposed to fare mentally when we’re working our asses off trying to keep up with in an increasingly expensive world? We’re living in a time where housing is becoming unattainable while costs of living continue to climb. Is that a future we’re supposed to look forward to?? Paying workers more and improving working conditions = an actual solution. Better pay and better working conditions. And giving raises. Anything less tells me that they don’t care.…

shoveling snow
I've made a couple of posts before but I work at a hotel doing housekeeping and maintaining public areas. Well I get in today wearing my converse (not my snow boots) and the manager tells me that I have to shovel snow of the entire property of this hotel and the hotel next door. Like wtf. I already have back problems.
A rising tide lifts all boats.
What’s my next move?
There’s been a “conflict of interest” at work. I’m very good at my job, but I’m also just a technician’s assistant. My boss (corporation) and district manager are giving me the option to be demoted and travel 30 more minutes to a different location (demotion sucks. No fulfillment whatsoever + pay decrease), or.. I guess find another job? I’ve been looking around, but what’s the right way to go about this? It’s a shitty situation to begin with, and I really just want to cut my ties and go, but it also seems so very personal.. I’m just stuck Edit: spelling
Update on 0 hour issues
Original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/10avujo/need_advice_on_0_hour_issues/ Developments; I have been reduced to 0 hours, still don't have another job, applying to everything I can think of, I have a docs appointment to maybe get meds for adhd so I can do art again since that pays decent money, but as of right now, after paying rent/utilities, I have £180, need to pay most of that for hormones for the next 9 months, then pay for the adhd prescription if I get one. I've applied to 10+ jobs this morning, from cleaning to amazon to administrative positions. I have been applying for months, I live in a resort town and the nearest jobs are 3 cities away. I hate that I'm having to choose between being able to buy food or medication, I have yogurt. Other than that I'm having to sponge off food my family makes. Do I have to file for benefits?…
