So I decided to become a personal trainer because life as a musician in COVID is extra hard. I have an 80% sale rate meaning if I do a free promo with you, 8 out of 10 people sign up with me. That isn’t so bad eh? My pay for 6 days of work was $100. My manager confirmed that was correct. I am supposed to sell 30 min sessions and so I give my clients 30 min. I prep and clean up outside of their paid time. The gym refuses to pay me for the 10 min I spend on their lesson plans and cleaning. They insist I click out and in at exactly the training time and not a minute more. My cat died while I was visiting family overseas. I was supposed to land and then go to the gym to train and I decided to call…

Hey guys. I’ve been with my current employer for over 8 months, and the experience has been okay. I’m at $15hr as a part-time social media specialist and I help create content for my boss’s 3 different businesses. It’s mainly just us working together and (despite her spotty management skills) we get along pretty well. During this time, I’ve been freelancing on the side as a graphic designer. My latest freelance client (we’ll call them VCC) had me work on a 5 month-long project that paid well. The experience was also great because I worked with colleagues who understood design principles (if you’re a freelance designer you would understand lmao). At the end of my contract, the person I’ve been working for told me they have a job opening for a Communications Manager position at VCC. I immediately sent over my resume and cover letter, got an interview with them…
Thoughts? (Sorry if repost)
Rented an apartment at one point because they were the only place I could find with a reasonable amount for rent AND they allowed cats and small dogs for pets. Stayed there for about 8 months before I moved out of state. They sent back what was left of my deposite after an 800$ deduction from it claiming that my cat urinated all over the edges of the carpet during my stay. I know this was a lie because I was cleaning my cats litter box out daily and also cat piss smells horrible if left unattended. I also had friends and family help move me out and clean the place before I left. Nobody saw or could smell any sign of cat pee anywhere. Made sense why the landlord didn't require a walkthrough of the place before I left. Which was a mistake on my part. Lesson learned.
Real reason to want to stop working
I just want to have the time to spend with my nieces and nephews. I don’t have kids. Am single AF and content. But I love those kids and they love me! I wish I could stop exchanging time for money. It’s why I’m trying to open a few small business that I can eventually don’t have to change time for money (let it run mostly by itself) all the while working my full time job. It’s taking me a while because I love spending time with them. Sigh. Just wanted to vent.
Like a literal child
I was just reminded of this. At a former job I has a coworker we will call T. T was a pretty good employee. His biggest fault was just being a little slow on side projects and sometimes getting distracted in side conversations. But he knew how to do his job, didn't call in, etc. He was late one week a couple of times. Not majorly late. 5/10 minutes each time. I think he had to share a car that week or something. (This was several years ago.) Our store manager made him stand in the corner as punishment. I wasn't there that day or I'd have gone off. I found out about it way later and felt it would be more awkward for T to bring it up then. I wish I had. I actually liked that manager but all he did was talk on the phone and then…
About frigging time!
Tomorrow I'm giving my boss a one week notice, leaving for a union job with benefits. Preface: I've been working for this guy for over 18 months, with very little time off. Constant late nights and weekends, and fuck all to show for it. Lost a bunch of hours because his truck had to be sent for maintenance for weeks at a time. The guy has zero communication skills. Cherry on top: he never paid a nickel into CPP and EI, so my audit is gonna suck ass
