I returned to work yesterday after being off work for a week and a half with an injury (non workplace related). My coworker informed me that my assistant manager and my direct manager (I work in a bakery/deli at a grocery store) were talking shit about me while I was gone. The assistant manager even went so far as to say something to the effect of “I work even when my wrists hurt! Why does Snaccdaddy need a doctor’s note?”. My bakery manager said that I’ve been “dropping the ball.” I’ve been with this company for almost a year and have put up with shitty management, bullshit policies, and being screwed out of two positions/promotions. In my department I’m the only one who consistently shows up on time, who comes in when called in (which I’ve basically stopped doing with all the shit they’ve pulled), who actually does their job…
My shady ex boss didn’t pay me my final paycheck so I filed a wage claim. He also lied about the job description on Indeed and was shady by hiding under another business. I quit and haven’t received my paycheck. I field a wage claim, and now they’re saying it could take a YEAR to even see my claim, and could take a few years to even have a conference. If it goes to hearing it could take 4 YEARS! 4 years to see a paycheck, this is unethical and should be illegal. Then again Alameda County is literally HELL on Earth these days! Is anyone else experiencing this?!
Trust no one
Firstly, this is coming from a place of anger and is really just a rant. I was told today that I will be made redundant next week (with very little severance pay – not enough to survive) and I was chosen due to performance issues. The thing is, the team I work on is very hostile and there has been many issues. I was reassured many times that it is understood that my relative poor performance is due to the teams hostilities and it’s not my fault. I was assured by my manager, who is also the person responsible for selecting those to be made redundant. I had a lot of trust in my manager and genuinely liked him. I felt supported and understood. Now, I feel betrayed. I feel stupid for trusting him
It’s already started
Antiworkers It’s time we all question the path we’re on. In this materialistic society that has overshadowed our basic human values. It’s time to redefine success and prioritize empathy. Let’s challenge the notion that wealth defines our worth. Success lies in the positive impact we have on others’ lives, the kindness we show, and the love we share. To build an empathetic world, we must support the vulnerable, reject exploitation, and provide equal opportunities. Change starts with ourselves. Let’s examine our actions and foster empathy in our daily lives. I urge each of you to question our way of life, challenge inequality, and envision a future where empathy reigns supreme. Together, let’s spark a revolution of the heart. To quote the great antiworker Charlie Chaplin “We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery, we need humanity; more than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities,…
I started at a company in December. From day 1 my listed PTO was 120 hours. I've taken four days off, so my PTO log now says 88 hours. I'm taking a 2 week vacation in about a month, and turned in my request for 10 days off. Boss man is now saying I'm not supposed to have that much PTO and is trying to take it away. Can they do that? I have screenshots of the amount of PTO. I will be going on this vacation regardless, it's really a matter of whether I'll have a job when I get back.
I’m working in a really crappy customer service job that has turned into a call center with tight metrics. When I joined the company, there was more personal autonomy and ways to grow, and I wasn’t expected to be on phones all the time. I have a degree and I’ve applied for multiple promotions (rejected), did a ton of extra (unpaid) work that they couldn’t “find time” for on my work schedule, but I did anyway in hopes of priming myself for a promotion. Examples: wrote an article published on our website, build out a internal info hub for my group, prepared a presentation for a program they decided to implement, but senior leadership heard it once, took my idea and ran with it, and then cancelled all future meetings with me. And I’m still stuck answering the phones, which is extremely draining. People constantly yell at me over stuff…
For starters, the people I work for own 2 businesses. The warehouse that I was hired to supervise and they also own commercial rental property. Anything I'm asked to do in the warehouse doesn't really bother me because it's what I applied for. However; my boss regularly sends me to do labor or maintenance based tasks at their rental property. I've had to go rake and bag leaves, weed eat, hang signs, clean vacant units and whatever other bullshit they don't want to do themselves. Personally I think they should hire a property manager or maintenance person for their rental property. It feels like I'm being taken advantage of and used to do 2 separate jobs for one shitty wage. To make matters worse, my boss is a perfectionist in the most toxic way! He goes behind me and belittles the work I wasn't trained to do and has me…
Is my job heaven or hell?
Hi guys, Just wondering about my situation. Some might think this is heaven, but I just don't know what to think of this. Basically I work in a huge company where people are well known to work like crazy. In my case, I work for one of our clients and the amount of work I have is really low. My typical week is to go to my client an hour drive away, not even early in the morning, and then start heading home not too late after being in a few useless meetings. During the day, I have lunch for two hours in good restaurants all paid by the client. I do that kind of day between 2 and 3 times per week. The rest of the time I “work from home” and honestly work about like 20 or 30 minutes during an entire day. Nobody asks anything, I don't…
I've been at this job for a year and a half. They monitor our badge swipes and make us update a calendar showing if we are remote or not. We are required to be in on M & W and can choose our third day. This isn't applied across all teams, and the other people on our team don't even bother to come in. Over half of my team is on “medical”exceptions so they wfh. I gave my notice and will be going to a new company. I have one more week after this one at the current job. I decided to stay home today so I could get stuff done and my manager teams'd me: M: I didn't realize you were remote today K: yes I am. I'll update the calendar M: next week I definitely need you in m-w to transition accounts and to get your laptop etc.…
