Job withholding paycheck after I quit
I quit without notice and sent a text to the manager explaining I will not be back and it’s been 2 weeks with no word from them. I haven’t received my last check. I emailed them and asked what is the deal and got the response of “I will need a resignation letter from you before I can process your final paycheck”. Is this necessary?
What if businesses doubled the pay rate but half the amount of hours people need to work? That way people won't get burnt out and the companies would still only be dishing out the same amount of money to people.
I had a 30 minute zoom interview today with a tech start up. Towards the end I asked about compensation and was told that the woman hiring me does not have that information. She said I would need to wait to hear back on if I was sleep te for the next round of interviews and then the manager on that call would disclose the salary to me. I finished the call and then received an email with a link to an hour long assessment that is required to be considered for the next round. She never mentioned this assessment on the call. Talk about a scam. This was my response to her.
So Enticing!!
Background: A manager approached me via chat today asking me if submitted a quarterly self-review, to which I replied, yes. I submitted this particular review before the cutoff (19th of last week) as I’m aware of it’s importance. However, upon opening the app that captures this information, I noticed that my submission was in fact not there. I relayed this discovery to my manager in chat and his follow up message was, “We need to stay on top of these things.” I immediately took this as some subtle form of passively scolding a child. And my response was just that but in a different arrangement. He continues from here but I’ll start the post with this. Am I overthinking/reacting this manager’s comment?
When I interviewed with him I made it clear I prefer evening/night shifts. He had asked me to switch to morning twice in the couple months I’ve been here and I said no so I thought that was done with. Now my coworker that works 4:30 am got a new job so he emailed me saying I need to switch to 4:30 am starting Monday. I believe he over hired me hoping I would give in to switch to mornings at some point, which is now happening. I’m very upset and feel like lying and just saying that’s not possible because I am starting school or something. Also why is he only telling me? I have two other coworkers. Should I say this? What can I do? I have worked early morning before and it just does not work for me and my quality of life is diminished from being…
