Resignation help
So I'm planning on quitting my job today. I work remotely so it would be via email on my work computer. I called in sick for the last 3 days while waiting for confirmation that I had gotten a new job. Well that job will be starting March 6 and I've been severely unhappy at this job since I started. I've only been with the company a year and it's a basic customer service job not relevant to my prior or future experience so I don't care about burning a bridge. What's the best way to word the email that I would send? I was thinking about saying that I would be quitting effective immediately due to medical reasons. Are there any better suggestions? I want this next week off so that I can shift my focus and prepare for my new job. I have to quit today as my…
So I work for a really small business with 4 other employees plus my boss. One of the employees is my bosses son. This week he brought his sick kid in. My boss said that the kid would just stay in the back with her dad which still fucking sucks but I can’t afford to call out because we have a shit ass pto policy where we don’t get paid overtime and if we do work overtime we can use it as pto. But anyway big surprise, not, the kid comes into her grandmas office and ofc decides to stand by me. Ofc I get sick and have to miss two days. Are kids even allowed in the workplace if they are sick? Also her son brings in his newborn daughter who cries most of the day. I wouldn’t be such a bitch about it but his parents basically find…
I don’t have the best job, but it’s 100% remote without any invasive supervision, and it’s been a high enough salary that allowed my husband to focus on building his career. Now that my husband has gotten a new job with a big pay bump, I’ll be able to quit soon and look for something better for me without having to work AND job hunt. I’m very lucky to be in that position now. BUT I’ve been at this job for over 1.5 years now without any raise. One of the perks of the job was that it’s hourly AND I could work as many hours as I had things to work on each week, until about 3 months ago when I got limited to 40 hours per week with no exceptions because the finances weren’t going great. Okay, whatever, that’s fine, but I can’t even ask my boss for…
I have been an intern for a couple months now and my manager has been giving me hell. When I first joined, she never gave me instructions on when to clock in and when to clock out so I am usually the person that comes in first and leaves last. She has a “figure it out yourself” type of mentality. As an intern, I am obligated to work 40 hours a week but because my manager is an ass, she got mad at me for leaving after 8 hours one time and stated I have an “attitude” problem for doing so, she even scheduled a meeting to chat about my performance after I left my 8 hour day. We don’t have clock in system at work (other than badging in to the building) so I usually send her pictures of the time at the office when I start and when…
One of you guys is a dipshit
Hey everyone, I've been thinking a lot about the idea of “working smarter, not harder” and why it doesn't quite add up for me. Sure, efficiency and productivity are important, but at the end of the day, work is still work. And the more we prioritize work above all else, the more we perpetuate a system that values profit over people. When we buy into the idea of working smarter, we're essentially saying that the solution to our problems is to work harder and faster, rather than questioning why we're working so much in the first place. We're telling ourselves that if we just put in a little more effort, we'll be able to achieve our goals and find fulfillment. But the truth is, the system is designed to keep us in a constant state of overwork and burnout. That's why I'm a firm believer in the antiwork movement. We…
