So I work for a non-profit organization in Southern California. Being non-profit, we don’t make all that much, but I’ve been getting by. Unfortunately, it has become unsustainable for me, but I wanted to stay with the organization. I requested going remote n my current position and they said they won’t allow directors to go remote, while acknowledging that they don’t pay us enough to stay there. They counter offered that they would keep me on in a different position that would allow me to go remote and even asked me to write up a new job description for them to consider. I even got confirmation from my supervisors (who is also an exec) that they will for sure allow me to go remote, it’s just a matter of finding the best position. Today, HR sets a meeting with me and tells me they will not be offering me any…

apartment advice?
hi all, not sure where to post this but figured someone here might be able to point me in the right direction, as we don't want to make the wrong move and be taken advantage of by a landlord. my partner lives in an apartment that seemed safe enough, but we are now noticing several (new) large cracks in the walls developing, in addition to uneven floors. we emailed the property management with pictures, and they sent someone in to come “check it out”. this was several weeks ago and we haven't heard anything from the inspector or property manager. I guess I'd like to know if there's anything we should be aware of in terms of what we should be doing, other than moving out (doing our best, lol). is this something we should be documenting for legal purposes? what are the rights we have as tenants in this…
Dream Factory Boss
I was just wondering if anyone has experienced a similar situation and how to handle it: I have a boss who keep coming up with “Titles” and “New Ideas” for work which seem alright but due to lack of equipment at my workplace it is not possible to accomplish these “New Ideas” I have even gotten my boss to verbally acknowledge that our lab does not have the equipment to support these “new ideas”. In the past when he claims that we will get the tools required for the job it has not happened when my boss had “new ideas”. This acknowledgement however does not seem to stop his brain from thinking that we can do the impossible. Any idea's of how to stop this madman? should I just let things play out and allow these “new ideas” to just fail? Appreciate any responses, Jack Silver
Sorry if this isn’t allowed, I just kind of need to vent. If you’re here for the title, skip to the end. So, Thursday the 2nd thru Saturday the 4th I was mandated to stay late because I was the “only one” who could do xyz. On the 2nd, my manager asked if I could come in from 2100-2330 to get trained for brake riding (something that had to be done when the overnight planes arrived); after I reluctantly said yes, I realized that I couldn’t since that would only be 4.5 hours between shifts since on Thursdays and Fridays I work a double with a coworker (hence why I work 3 days a week); according to our union agreement, there must be at least 7.5 hours between shifts (excluding things like what I have with my coworker). She seemed irritated and said fine, she’ll send me to a different…
