Non Solicitation Agreement ??

Hi everyone. I’m not sure if this is the right sub but I need advice.. I applied to a company I would really love to work with. I’m a billing specialist currently at a home health agency – and the new company is one of our vendors. They asked me to get consent from leadership at my current job in regards to a non-solicitation agreement ( I thought this only applied to like aides, nurses or like higher up / VP people ? ) how should I approach my current boss about getting consent? …

The coast guard screwed my husband over. How can I console him while he’s looking for another job?

My husband was a merchant marine/sailor for 4 years before the coast guard fucked everything up (his documents to go back on ships wouldn't go through to the coast guard's email due to their “firewall”). He hasn't worked for 1 and a half years because of them, and he wants nothing more to do with the maritime industry. Even if he did, he would still have to wait a long time just to go back onboard. Money is running a little low now that we have a 3 month old baby. The plan was for me to be a SAHM for 2 years while he worked, but since the coast guard's mess, I have to work as well as him at a land job. Now the jobs he wants aren't getting back to him (IT/tech is VERY hard to break into without relevant experience), and he now says he feels…

Throwback to the time when they pretty much rigged pulse surveys at my work to ensure the raffle winner was someone in management

The contest stipulated completing the survey (about workplace morale) wasn’t enough to be entered into the raffle for the expense prize grill. 90% of your ENTIRE department had to complete it. For people who worked on the production floor (everyone not sitting in an office in front of a computer all day), they didn’t allow time set aside in your workday to do it. No department that worked on the production floor, i.e., all of the disgruntled employees, even reached 50% completion. The only department that reached the 90% was management, surprise. The fact that they’re allowed to do pulse surveys AT ALL is a conflict of interest, because they’re basically just giving themselves their own performance reviews and sending them off to corporate. But yeah… sprinkle on the bacon bits of give yourself a free grill with company money as a job well done while you’re at it.

Diabetes as a disability?

I have had diabetes(type 1) for almost 20 years. Whenever I have applied to a job there’s the question are you disabled? I have always put no and never read what all is covered as a disability until recently and diabetes is on the long list of what’s covered. Things are slowing down at work and management is starting to get nit-picky and I’ve been getting talked to recently about checking my blood sugar or taking insulin(5-10 minute gaps in my work activity). I tell them I had to take care of my diabetes and then I get told make sure I tell someone. I work in a giant warehouse and most of the time I have to hunt down management and I feel like it’s unsafe to spend the time looking for them versus just going and getting it taken care of. How should I approach my bosses/HR about…

What tip, tidbit, or piece of advice you would give to someone going in to the workforce?

Myself, (26F) am coincidentally attempting to go in to the workforce at the same time as my 3 close cousins (21, 23, 25F)(very different life circumstances) Myself and their middle child have bachelor degrees (liberal studies, English respectively), the other two of our family have high school degrees. The two of us are both first generation college graduates, graduating the same year. Neither one of us college graduates knows where to go any more than our family high school graduates, in the sense that we are all equally skeptical. However, I am attempting to create a more positive, but realistic atmosphere. And this Being a sub that consists of many different viewpoints, abilities, skills, trades, and many other different adjectives, I didn’t know if anyone had any tips or experiences anyone would want to share to give a spark of preparation and confidence (or hope/happiness/relief) during their experiences of getting…

Coworker with Less Experience Than Me is Making 15k More A Year

Hey r/antiwork, I am in a predicament. To preface, I am a 23 y/o IT Support Engineer. I have been working at my current MSP for about a year and a half. This started yesterday when I was talking to my coworker of the same age and who has been at the same company as me for about the same amount of time. We were discussing certifications and I had mentioned that I would be taking a certification called the CCNA for an extra $5000 to my salary. He then asked how much I made, I jokily said he had to say it first and he said 60k and I replied my mine was 45k before the certification bonus. We were both in shock, both surprised by how much we made. He then goes on to say how he can't believe I paid so unfairly, and that I am very…
