Credit consistently given to upper management, but never the people who actually do the work (Rant)

I work in public service and we frequently have press releases and postings to inform the public and stakeholders about what we are doing, accomplishments, awards, etc. I have put in hundreds of hours on several projects and when the project is completed, I never get any sort of credit or acknowledgement from the upper management although they are fully aware I’m the one doing a majority of the work. Instead, they praise the employees they very obviously favor and give them all the credit in the press releases and in the citations although they did a very small amount of the work, or in two recent cases, ABSOLUTELY NONE of the work at all. The first release felt like a punch in the gut because it was a very high award being given and 4/6 of the people in the photo of the press release had absolutely nothing to…

The first release felt like a punch in the gut because it was a very high award being given and 4/6 of the people in the photo of the press release had absolutely nothing to do with the project? They were just invited to the ceremony because the director likes them and is friends with them.

The second one is a publication I also spend hundreds of hours on with our associates (at least they know the truth about the mis-crediting) to put out an extremely detailed report. The person who got the credit had 0 hours spent on the project and historically has been very rude to me in the past, but is step fly favored by the director and assistant director.

My friends who are in this field said I should rectify it and call them out on the mis crediting but I don’t even think it’s worth it. I don’t get paid enough to care and these people are dinosaurs so they just want to gloat and collect as many accolades as possible before they croak. Pretty frustrating but now that I know this is how they treat their employees after a lot of hard work I can’t wait to find a new job that respects me and my strong work ethic more.

Thanks for reading my rant and i hope everyone gets credit where credit is due:)
