21M here; currently homeless and poor-ass broke. I applied for a job with a local general store in the town i currently reside in. I received an application from an employee and filled it out the same day; I even delivered it the very next day. The following day, no phone call from the GM of the store. Day after that-still no phone call. I call them up and ask how the application process is going. The lady on the other end of the line said that a bunch of kids who'd gotten out of school for the summer had taken all the jobs they had. I hung up but didn't really think much of it.
I was telling another person about this, and they were livid. They said they knew the store was still hiring, but that they lied to me because I put a homeless shelter as my address on the application. Apparently, two people from the shelter I'm staying at got involved with the police for shoplifting at that same store, so the GM decided to blacklist anyone from that address.
Fucking bullshit, I tell you. That's the only local job opportunity in walking distance from the shelter, and now I can't work there because the GM has decided that the local homeless are thieves. I also refuse to work for liars.
